Cecile De France

Cecile De France is a Belgian actress born on 17th July 1975, in Namur. She has had a glorious acting career in theatre, French and International Cinema. At the age of 17, she left Belgium to go to Paris. There she studied theatre for two years with actor Jean Paul Denizon, who was at that time assistant to the widely known British director Peter Brook. She further spent three successful learning years (1995–98) in the Département Comédie at the acting academy ENSATT (École Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Techniques du Théâtre), first at the Rue Blanche in Paris and consequently in Lyon. She was discovered by the agent Dominique Besnehard. She then made her impressionable rookie appearances in French hit films such as L'Art (délicat) de la séduction (2001) and Irène (2002). She received her international breakthrough finally with the horror film Haute Tension (2003, UK title: Switchblade Romance, US title: High Tension), which was a soaring and unflinching worldwide success. She became the cynosure of the eyes of Hollywood producers and soon had her first major role in a US feature alongside the famous Chinese action star Jackie Chan in Around the World in 80 Days. Then, she gained exalted international praise and acclaim for her lead role in the highly successful and appreciated movie Hereafter (2010). She has many acting accolades to her name.

She is the rightful winner of two César Awards for Most Promising Actress in L'Auberge Espagnole (2002), and Best Supporting Actress in Les Poupées Russes (2005). Also in the year of 2000, she won an Acting Award at Festival du Court Métrage de Bruxelles. Consequently in 2003, she again emerged triumphant in the Shooting Stars Award. In 2005, she added yet another award to her name with the Prix Romy SchneiderIn. Jubilantly in 2014 she hosted, also being a successful winner of this award, the 39th César Awards ceremony. To add another feather to her meritorious cap, she was selected to be on the jury for the Cinéfondation and short film sections of the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. She is still an active acting artist, and she continually makes appearances on stage, on television or as a voice artist. She married a famous musician Guillaume Siron. She is also a proud mother of two beautiful children Lino and Joy.
