Rajkumar Kaiku

Rajkumar Kaiku is a Manipuri actor. His real name is RK Somorendro. Kaiku was born in Dimapur, Nagaland on 3rd January 1974. His father’s name is RK Modhusana and mother’s name is RK Ongbi Reba. Initially, he used to run a hotel with his parents near Dimapur railway station, later on, he moved to his permanent house at Thangmeiband Meisnam Leikai in Imphal West district.

He graduated from D.A.V. College, Chandigarh. He is contesting in 2019 Parliamentary election in the Inner Manipur Constituency as an independent candidate. Before entering into an acting career, Kaiku got married to RK on GBI Kiranmala. He has two daughters – Simran and Krishtina. He is one of the most renowned Manipuri actors and has acted in more than 180 Manipuri films.

In 2001, the 44-year-old actor treaded into the acting world through a Manipuri music video but, it was in 2003, his superhit romantic movie Kalpana rose him to stardom and got him in the light. His other famous work includes Ta-Tomba The Great, Meerang Mahum, Mami Samietc. Kaiku faced a roadblock in his career of acting in music videos, but that did not stop him from acting. He switched his direction towards digital films after that.

Acting is his passion since his childhood. During his school days, he used to take part in plays and played numerous roles like Charlie Chaplin Charles Chaplin popularly known as Charlie Chaplin >> Read More... and other comedians. But he didn’t have any formal learning of acting at that time. He started acting in films as a passion, and he utilized the experience he got from music videos in films. Kaiku has a dream of opening an amusement park where children and their families will enjoy in addition to the film industry using it as a shooting spot.

However, it will take time to fulfill it due to financial inadequacy. Throughout his journey as an actor, Kaiku has gotten a lot of recognition and won awards from numerous organizations. He has received Manipur Viewers’ Choice Award, awards of various local clubs and Ketawan award. As a note to the younger generation who desire to get into the film industry, he says that it is amazing and worthy to be a part of the Manipuri film industry.

He emphasizes that the newbies should knock the industry’s door after having completed a course from an institution as it will help them grow. He believes that everyone should maintain some discipline as it is the most important quality which a newbie must possess to mold into a successful actor or actress.
