Ayutha Ezhuthu Ayutha Ezhuthu is a Tamil TV serial that aired on >> Read More... is a nightly debate on current event television program that is aired on Thanthi TV (which is a subsidiary of the Dina Thanthi Tamil Daily Newspaper). The show started on the 7th of October 2013 and has been aired every day ever since. Its format has been designed such that it challenges the views of the people by providing information and facts (In the form of statistics) without overwhelming the public with redundancy. The show has a panel of people who are specialists, but have wildly different political views from liberal and left learning, too far right conservatives.

The show was generally hosted by two political pundits, one of whom was seen to be representing the liberal left, while the other pundit was supposed to be one from the conservative right, this was done to provide an unbiased view from both sides of the political spectrum. The show usually featured more people to provide a more neutral debate. In the present scenario where most TV networks provide a news debates show of their own, most are not worth the paper their script is written on, some though stand out. Here the debates are not primitive shouting matches, where the louder a person shouts the better he/she gets his/her point across, these shows are very short in supply.

This show is one among those elite few. The show allows for the viewers to form their own opinion on the issues as they are shown the various views and counter-views for the topic being discussed. The show usually calls panellists who are highly educated and can explain the topic in a clear and succinct manner. There is a small  bias in the selection of the panellists as there appear to be an equal number of panellists from both sides of the political spectrum. In this era where round-the- clock (24 hours) News channels are the norm, the urge to come up with the next “Breaking news” as fast as possible is overcoming the rational thought processes of most journalists, so much so that a number of news channels have forgone some of the fundamental principles of Journalism, namely those of Objectivity and balance. In such an environment, Ayutha Ezhuthu is a breath of fresh air.
