Plot

Govardhan is an architect from a middle-class family. He is employed in a small company in Hyderabad. His family is a joint family with his grandmother, brothers and sisters-in-law. Indu, a college-going girl is from a wealthy family and she stays in a portion of his home for rent. Soon, she gets attached to everyone in Govardhan’s family. Govardhan slowly falls for Indu, but when he is about to propose, a truth stops him. He is shocked to hear that he and his family are being cheated. What is the truth? What happens to his love over Indu? The rest of the film deals with this.

Star Performance

Vijay Devarakonda and Mrunal Thakur looked good when seeing their performances individually. But, they lacked chemistry, except for a couple of scenes. Mrunal’s lip-sync goes off at times. Jagapati Babu, Rohini Hattangadi, Abhinaya, and Vasuki didn’t have anything significant to do.

Analysis

Parasuram tried to project the hero well and missed the logic. Though Vijay fit well in the character, some of the scenes at his office make the audience feel weird. The screenplay is not engaging and the reason explained by the heroine for her behaviour, seems to be silly. Though some emotional scenes impress the audience, there is a lack of depth in the family bonding. A few comedy scenes worked out. The songs are good and the visuals are pleasing. BGM should have been made better.

Verdict

The Family Star has some good performances, but the screenplay and execution are unimpressive, which put down the film tremendously. If you want to see Vijay and Mrunal’s performances, you can try this film!
