Born on September 8th 1933 in Maharashtra to Master Deenanath Mangeshkar, a classical singer and actor. Her father passed away when Asha was only 10 and she and her sister began to sing from an early age to support their family. Asha had a big family with 4 sisters, including Asha, and one brother.

Kalpana Patowary has earned an intense reputation by singing Bhojpuri songs and for being instrumental in uplifting this typical folk song of India into a global platform and she has introduced these songs of rural India to the music lovers of the whole world. Kalpana is actually an Assamese by birth. Being the daughter of famous Assamese folk singer Bipin Chandra Nath, she was naturally talanted. She was born and brought up in Assam and graduated in English Literature from Cotton College in Assam. Due to her hearty love for music, she became the disciple of the renowned classical singer Ustad Gulam Mustafa Khan. Later on, she completed the ‘Visharad’ course in the vocal stream of Indian Classical music, from Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapeeth in Lucknow, on 1996. But she was already singing regularly in All India Radio, Assam and in Doordarshan Kendra, Guwahati from 1992. Her real musical journey started from 2001, when she stepped in Mumbai and started singing songs in different other languages. Now she is credited with more than 7000 songs in 23 different languages, including Assamese, Hindi, Bhojpuri and even English. 

Her first Bhojpuri music album ‘Gawanwa Leja Rajaji’ was released in 2003 and was instantly loved by the public and became the best-seller of that year. Thereafter, she has sung for more than 10 Bhojpuri albums and all these songs have become highly popular. She has also sung playback songs in more than 400 Bhojpuri films till date. She has received plenty of awards and recognitions for her great contributions in the music of various Indian languages.

Kavita Seth is a Hindi playback singer born in Uttar Pradesh. She was born on September 14, 1970. The singer even lends her voice in Ghazals and Sufi music. She was a disciple of Ustad Ahmed Ali Khan. She started her career by performing on All India Radio and Doordarshan. Kavitha Seth drew inspiration from works of Sufi poets and singer. Also, she has rendered many compositions and her voice often blends in the Sufi culture of the Indian subcontinent. In popular film songs, she won acclaim for the song of Iktara, which is from the movie Wake Up Sid and Tum Hi Bandhu from the film Cocktail.

Shreya Ghoshal, one of the most famous singers in Bollywood today, was born on March 12th, 1984, in Berhampore, West Bengal. Her father Biswajit Ghoshal is an electrical engineer and mother Sharmistha Ghoshal is a postgraduate in literature. She started singing since the age of 4 when her mother taught her. She started her formal training in Hindustani classical Gharana of music when she was only six years old. She was trained for 18 months after which she continued her training in Mumbai with Late Mukta Bhideji. She completed her graduation in Arts with majors in English. Her first on-stage performance was at their club’s annual function. Her first studio album was in Bengali in 19998 and was named Bendhechhi Beena, and her first onscreen performance was in Awaz Nayi Andaaz Wohi. In 1995, she became the winner of All India Light Vocal Music Competition. Her fame and career began with her winning a television singing reality show named Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.

Vidya Balan is an award winning Bollywood actress who was born in Poothamkurussy, Puthur of Kerala. Her birthday is 1st of January in 1978. Her parents are Saraswathy and P. R Balan. Her elder sister is Priya Balan and her second cousin is Indian actress Priyamani. She studied at a High School in Mumbai and in 1995, at the age of sixteen, she played the role of Radhika in the first season of Ekta Kapoor's TV series named “Hum Paanch”. In her teenage, she was inspired by Indian actress Shabana Azmi and Madhuri Dixit. She studied Sociology in St. Xavier's College and completed Master's in Mumbai University. Gauhar Khan or Gauahar Khan or Gauahar Zafar Khan is known for her career as Bollywood actress and a model. She was born in Pune, Maharashtra, India and was born on 23rd August 1983 in a Muslim family, where she is one of the five siblings. She is the sister of famous television actress Nigaar Khan and the youngest of five sisters. She completed her schooling from Mount Carmel Convent High School, Lullanagar, Pune.

He has acted in many critically acclaimed films and even directed many films that fetched him commercial success and even won appreciation in the film festivals. He was born on 23 September 1977. The actor was inclined to act and direct as his parents were theater actors. Even during his higher education days, the actor took a keen interest in directing. He was playwright and director of plays like ‘Checkmate’ where he had the privilege of working with Aparna Sen and Anjan Dutta.

Mukesh Bhatt is an Indian film producer who was born on June 5, 1952, to Nanabhai Bhatt and Shirin Mohammad Ali. He is a younger brother of renowned filmmaker and screenwriter Mahesh Bhatt. Nanabhai’s brother was Balwant Dutt, who was also a movie director. The duo brother had made some successful movies such as ‘Aaashiqui’, ‘Jurm’,’ Sadak’, and ‘Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin’. The duo had tried to launch a career of Pooja Bhatt, who is Mahesh Bhatt’s daughter ( Sadak and Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin) along with Aamir Khan and Sanjay Dutt. Niranjan Iyengar is an Indian screenwriter and lyricist. He was born in Anand, India. He mostly works with the director Karan Johar. He has written many screenplays for his films. Few of them are ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ in 2003, ‘My Name is Khan’ in 2010 and lyrics for Chammak Challo song from the film ‘Ra One’ - 2012. He is the author of the book ‘The Making of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’.

Gopi Bhagat worked with several popular filmmakers, including Shiboprosad Mukherjee and the Nandita Roy director pair, Churni Ganguly, Kaushik Ganguly, and Srijit Mukherji. Anu Malik is considered as one of the most famous and successful music directors from film industry. He has also established his name as a singer. He began his career as a music director in 1977. He gave the music for the film Hunterwali. He became famous in 1990s by delivering the blockbusters like Baazigar,Janam and so on. We can say 1990 to 2000s was the golden period of his career. He was awarded a National Award for his phenomenal music for the film Refugee. His other blockbusters were Shah Rukh Khan starrer Mai Hoon Na and Baazigar . This movie gave him a Filmfare Award of Best Music Director. He has made a record of winning this trophy for 6 times. Anu Malik has given his versatile music for more than 350 films. He is considered as the most promising music director from the industry. So his songs like Garam Chaye Ki Pyali, Mehbooba Mehbooba, Gori Gori are some of the most famous songs from his compositions. He has also successfully played the role of a judge in the reality show Indian Idol. And has also made a presence in many T.V. shows. Sahir Ludhianvi is one of the celebrated lyricists that Hindi film industry has ever had. Coming from Urdu background from Ludhiana Punjab (undivided then), Sahir was enormously gifted and this gift was exploited royally in Indian film industry. Born on 8th of March 1921 in Ludhiana, Sahir had to face parental separation during his childhood. Born as Abdul Hayee, Sahir adopted this pen name which has so deeply imbibed among people’s memories. He hails from a wealthy family and his grandparents and parents were zamindars in Ludhiana.

Altamash Faridi, an Indian playback singer, was born on August 17, 1989, in a one of the biggest cities of Uttar Pradesh, Saharanpur.He was the winner of the musical reality show, Close-Up Performer winner telecasted on Doordarshan in the year 2009. He competed with 99 other candidates to win that award and received a cash price of one lakh rupees along with a singing contract worth ten lakhs rupees with Rajshri Production. He contested in "Music Ka Maha Muqabla" telecasted on StarPlus as a member of Shaan’s team “Striker.” He was seen later in the same year, in Zee "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar." He was in brother’s duo, Sajid-Wajid team and managed to reach the top 18 contestants. He first ventured as a playback singer for the comic thriller "No Problem" in the year 2010 alongside Wajid Khan. Since then he playback for many Bollywood numbers. He sang the song Babbe Mast with Sonu Kakkar for the feature What The Fish. He also gave his voice for Sajna Ve Sajna Ve in the movie Mickey Virus.

Most famous for his songs in Aashiqui 2, Arijit Singh has established himself as a prominent playback singer and music programmer. He was the runner-up in Fame Gurukul, a singing competition, in 2005. He then went on to win another singing reality show, 10 Ke 10 Le Gaye Dil.

Born in 1987 in West Bengal, Arjit was trained in classical music by his aunt and mother. He had a passion for music from an early age and his parents decided to get him a professional trainer, Rajendra Prasad Hazari for classical music and Dhirendra Prasad Hazari to train him at tabla.  His teachers encouraged Arijit to try out for Fame Gurukul in 2005 and chose to promote the Indian classical music genre.

Pritam Chakraborty gave Arjit a chance and signed him for three films; Crook, Golmaal 3, and Action Replayy. He made his debut singing “Phir Mohabbat” for Murder 2 in 2011. This kickstarted his career as a playback singer and led to him singing songs such as; “Raabta", “ Duaa", and “Phir Le Aya Dil", earning nominations for the latter two in Mirchi Music Award With the release of the hit song “Tum Hi Ho” Singh became a common household name. The song helped him win nine awards from various award shows. He has since sung.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is a renowned singer worldwide. He was born on 9 December 1973 in Faisalabad, Pakistan.

He is famous for his melodious voice and is nephew of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. He is very popular in Bollywood and Lollywood and has been active from the last few years. His numerous albums have been released and loved by music lovers. He got his early training from Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan who also was his uncle, after that he joined his group at 15 years age. In 1985, he went to UK with group his uncle and sang solo qawwalis at a Birhingam concert.

He debuted in Bollywood from Mann Ki Lagan song from movie Paap. He had performed at various worldwide famous venues like Wembley Arena and Manchester Arena. He collaborated and also contributed in various Hollywood sound tracks in movies like Dead Man Walking and showed his talent. Various other Hollywood tie ups have also been there with him.

He also had been a judge in a music reality show Chote Ustad 2 where he was in panel with Sonu Nigam and Raveena Tandon. Indian audiences loved the show. He was a judge at another reality show Junoon Kuch Kar Dikhane Ka from NDTV Imagine.

He also is the first Pakistani Singer to perform at a Noble peace prize ceremony. He has also featured in Coke Studio sessions where he sang Garaj Baras with Ali Azmat and with Abida Parveen on Chaap Tilak. Sonu Nigam is a renowned Bollywood singer and composer. He was born on July 30, 1973 in Faridabad, Haryana. Hailing from a musical background, both his parents are singers. He is the son of singer Agam Kumar Nigam. The first performance he gave was at the tender age of 3 when he performed the song Kya Hua Tera Wada by Mohammed Rafi. Besides singing Hindi songs he has recorded songs in Kannada, Assamese, Oriya, Tamil, Bengali, Punjabi, Nepali and Marathi languages. He is amongst the top Playback singers in Bollywood and has also released a few individual pop albums. Nigam moved to Mumbai at the age of 19, to start a career in Bollywood as a singer. He is the prodigy of famous Hindustani classical singer Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan. Though he started his career by covering songs of Mohammed Rafi under the T-Series record label owned by Gulshan Kumar, his first break came in 1990 when he did playback singing in the movie called Janam. In 1995 he started hosting the popular musical TV show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, after which he delivered the famous single Acha Sila Diya Tune for the film Bewafa Sanam. Some of his famous tracks are Sandese Aate Hai from the movie Border (1997), Ye Dil Deewana from the movie Pardes (1997). In 1999 he released his debut album Deewana, he also sang the title track for the movie Kal Ho Na Ho. Parikshit Lalvani is a famous Indian sound editor, sound designer, DJ and the CEO of Creative Sound Design with an experience of more than 16 years. Parikshit was born on 27th August, 1977 in Juhu , Mumbai. He started his career as an engineer by taking a degree in Digital Electronics and working at PACE Communications.

Justin Jose is a sound engineer and sound mixer of Indian origin. He has worked in films of different regional languages like Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and Malayalam. Justin Jose was born on 11th October,1980 in Thrissur, Kerala. He started working in the industry in the year 2003 and is still very active with his work. Justin did his graduation in Economics from St.Thomas College, Thrissur. After that, he received Diploma in Audio Recording from Chetna Sound Studio. He also received 4th-grade electronic keyboard from Trinity College of Music. He moved to Mumbai in 2003 and started working under Deepan Chatterjee.

Mukesh Chhabra was born on 27th May 1980 in Mumbai of Maharashtra state. He is a very popular actor as well as a director, and he is the director of acting workshop too. He is active in the Bollywood film industry right from the year 2000 until the present. He also works in casting the actors for the movies and came up with successful casts as a whole. He did casting for prominent movies like Chillar Party, Kai Po Che, Gangs of Wasseypur, and D-Day. They were commercially successful movies, and the casting is quite apt and perfect.

Bollywood actor Chunky Pandey’s career graph provides for interesting reading, with all its ups and downs and twists and turns. For the sake of records, he has an impressive list of over 80 films against his name and in 2015 has achieved a silver jubilee in his filmy career, but these figures can hardly convey the vicissitudes that his career had to go through. It would be best to look at his career in three distinct phases – the initial phase when he entered the industry and within a short time got noticed for his roles, (although not really in lead ones); the second phase when he suffered from the frustration at not being able to break the jinx in Bollywood of being cast in successful lead roles, and deciding to foray into Bangladeshi cinema; and the last and most recent phase when he decided to try his fortune once again in Bollywood, and still continuing his efforts in the rather changed circumstances compared to his initial years there. It may be difficult to pass judgement on which of these phases has been his most successful one, as they were all in different circumstances and at different periods. In an isolated manner, may be his Bangladeshi phase was the most successful, as all his films there were in lead roles, and he had been able to build up a good fan base which was quite overawed by a Bollywood star “condescending” to work in their midst, although all this happening without his being able to speak a word of Bengali. More rationally, his first phase was perhaps the most eventful and successful too, with his bagging the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for his “Tezaab”. At the same time from a personal perspective it must have been a disappointment for him as he did not get many lead roles. He did act in several films like “Aag Hi Aag” released in 1987, having Dharmendra & Mousumi in the lead; followed in 1988 by two Dharmendra starrers “Paap Ki Duniya” and “Khatron Ke Khiladi” ; “Ghar Ka Chiraag” in 1989 with Rajesh Khanna and finally “Mitti Aur Sona” in the same year where he at last got a lead role. The irony is that with the advent of new generation actors like the Shahrukh Khans and Amir Khans he could not come into the lime light, and continued to fester as the aide or friend to the main heroes like Rajesh Khanna, Anil Kapoor, Govinda etc. Even in hits like “Aankhen” the limelight was on Govinda although they formed an equally creditable pair. In his return phase in 2003, after the sojourn in Bangladesh, he made a determined effort to claw back into a niche position, but ended up with mixed results. Starting off with minor roles and some good acting, though in bizarre movies of Ram Gopal Varma, he could ultimately make a mark with “Housefull”, appearing both in the original and the sequel, both of which were hits, offering some solace and hope of better times to come.
