Nirad Mohapatra was an Indian film director. He was born on the 12th of November 1947 at Odessa. He completed his college-level education in 1967, and then he started a diploma in film directing where he got a chance to worked as a lecturer at the institute. He is the father of freedom fighter, journalist, and his mother was a school teacher. He was quite good in studies. He aspired to become afilm director since his childhood. He was the eldest of seven siblings.
One day he visited a cinema in Bhadrak, where he edited the film called Manaphrasal and made a couple of documentary films. In 1978, he married Sabita Mohanty. His first feature film was Maya Miriga. He is also the winner of the special jury award at Hawaii film festival and critics of Cannes in France. He won many awards for his documentaries. He was also invited by four US Universities as a lecturer in 1985. He died of cardiac arrest on 19th February 2015.
