Known as the King of Pop, Michael Jackson’s full name was Michael Joseph Jackson. He was born on 29th of August 1958 and was a gifted singer and dancer. He also wrote many of his songs and was a record producer as well. His remarkable contributions to dance and music industry gave him an iconic and global image, for more than over four decades. He debuted in 1964 with four of his elder brothers from the album Jackson 5. Then in 1971, he began to work as a solo artist and from there his career took the high flight. In early 80’s his album, Thriller got so much appreciation from public critics, that his music videos for songs Billie Jean, Beat It and Thriller broke the charts of U.S. Billboards in 1982 and remained on top for many years. His every album got great recognition from public, right from Off The Wall (1979), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991) and History (1995). His dancing techniques were loved a lot by everyone. His Robot dance and Moonwalk were the first of their kind.
His best-selling album Thriller got sold in record 65 million copies, all around the globe. In 1987, his album BAD was the first ever album to have its five songs in top 100 of U.S. Billboard. He was included in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. All through his career, he had multiple Guinness World Records, The Grammy Legend Award, 13 Grammy’s for his songs, The Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, 13 number one solo’s in the US, 26 American Music Awards, much more than any single solo artist ever. He had sold over 400 million records worldwide, and that is a record too. Michael also built his own Disneyland, named as Neverland. He loved children very much, and he used to say that what he couldn’t get in his childhood, every child should be able to get that. He was a father to two sons and a daughter from his two marriages. His first wife was Lisa Marie Presley, who he married in 1994 and divorced in 1996.
His second wife was Debbie Rowe, who he married in 1996 and divorced in 1999. He used to donate a lot of money to the needy and NGO organisations. He gave over 1 Billion dollars for good causes, throughout his life. The Music industry wasn’t the only field which gave him recognition. He was related to many controversies in his life. From changing his looks, plastic surgeries, his colour of skin to child sexual abuse. In mid-90’s, he was accused of child sexual abuse. Although there were no formal charges, this issue was settled outside the civil court. Then in 2005, he was again accused of the same and charges were pressed against him. He was not found guilty this time on all accusations. In 2009, while making a comeback through his comeback concert series “This is it”, he was suddenly found dead due to the intoxication of medicinal drugs. The date was 25th of June 2009 and Michael Jackson was no more. It triggered a worldwide outpouring of grief. After some years of his death, in 2014, an album Xscape was released, which contained many of Michael’s unreleased songs. And it was a hit as well. Sold over a million copies in U.S. alone. Michael Jackson was called a Legend of the music industry, the King Of Pop. He will always be missed all around the globe.
