Plot: Tom Brand is a major business shark who has separated himself from his daughter Rebecca and his wife, Lara . In a hurry to get a last-minute gift for Rebeca's 11th birthday, he goes to a strange pet shop owned by Felix Perkins and buys a cat. While returning, Tom meets with an accident and finds himself captured in the cat's body. Felix tells him that he must make up with his family within a week, or be left as a cat forever.
Analysis: Parents need to understand that Nine Lives Click to look into! >> Read More... is a body-swapping, talking-animal comedy in which a billionaire tycoon's mind/personality is transferred in a cat while his body is in a coma. The comedy showcases predictable jokes, a subtle comment that is most likely to go over kids' head, and a wonderful amount of drinking for a kid objected movie. The cat/dad drinks Scotch and is drunk, and a woman gets much high at a child's birthday party. There's also a lot of absurd comedy, mostly surrounding the cat, in the style of LOL Cat videos.
It's not an amazing movie, but at least the messages convey work-life balance and the nearer relationship between a workaholic and his kids. In addition to a clumsy, ridiculous plot and horrible acting by every single actor - including the cat - there are no praiseworthy characters. The jokes fall flat and mostly jar on snarky, bitter comments made by Kevin Spacey and his first wife on their divorce. Very few jokes were penned down for kids. There is enough of a strange vibe going on with this script that it almost balances on the border of insanity in the first place
Star Performances: Garner -- who shot to fame as a powerful undercover agent in Alias -- plays a mom coping with family problems, which is quite disappointing. She can do a lot more than mundane "mom" roles. Cheryl seems to be Tom's ever eager for a cocktail ex-wife, Madison, who is extraordinarily good friends with Lara.
Amell's presence as the oldest son and employee highlights what a blockhead Tom is to his kids, but that's primarily the entire plot of this sleepy story: Workaholic dad learns to take out time for his kids after spending time with a cat.Walken is underused grossly. He could have been sensational.
What’s there? It's a bad movie, but there are worse movies than this. The acting lags behind, and there are a few comic points spanning throughout the film.
What’s not there? The rough treatment meted out to the cat thing is a big drawback influencing a child's mind. But the much bigger issue for was that this was a kids movie that just didn't know how to be a kids movie at all. It falls flat on the context.
Verdict:There are worse movies that have been made. But this is a bad movie, and there are better things to spend your money on at the box office right now.
