The third offering in the big momma series of films seems to be one just to encash on the history of this series, rather than to create a niche for itself. It all starts when, FBI agent Malcolm Turner ( Martin Lawrence Martin Lawrence was born on April 16th, 1965 in We >> Read More... ) wants his stepson, Trent Pierce (Brandon T. Jackson) to pursue the college education, but Trent wants to turn rapper instead. The situation is such that both join to disguise, Turner as the hefty big Momma and Trent as a female student, Charmaine at the performing arts school.
The father-son duo is here to find a flash drive as evidence against a Russian gang member Chirkoff (Tony Curran), which was robbed when Malcom’s informant, Canetti (Max Casella) was killed when his cover was blown. Malcom and Trent so have to disguise to hide from these gangsters. Love blooms between Trent and Haley Robinson ( Jessica Lucas Jessica Lucas is a singer and actress with origins >> Read More... ) at the school, during Trent training her for the upcoming competition at school. Malcom discovers that flash drive is at the school and fight the gangsters. The movie is a combination of good performances by actors in a clichéd set of thoughts and a weak story.
There could’ve been more to it, but the writer’s preferred cashing on the brand name. The changeover for Martin and Brandon to females is beautifully handled by the make-up team. The sad part is that the team has tried so hard to get the comedy scenes click, but it’s either same old stuff or too much effort for nothing at the end. The action sequences also fail to add any spice. The music is a life saviour, though. If they would’ve made the music the important aspect, like a musical maybe then things would’ve been different.
Lastly, the movie disappoints on all three fronts - comedy, action and romance. Thus, the movie turns out to be unpalatable for audiences
