October 2nd is observed as Gandhi Jayanthi but only a few youngsters know anything about the Father of the Nation. To bring about awareness about the Mahatma and his principles amongst the youth, an NGO called Gandhi Sarva Samaya Prarthanai Maiyem has organized for the screening of the Gandhi film in 4 theatres across the city. The Tamil version of the Oscar award winning English film will be shown free of cost in Annai Abirami at 8.30 a.m., at 9.00 a.m. at Studio 5 of Sathyam Cinemas and S2 of Perambur Sai Shanthi.
NFDC, the copyright owner of the film has offered the print for free and the theatre managements have also agreed to screen the film for free. Tickets will be given on a first come first served basis. Before the film is screened, a 10 minute documentary showing esteemed personalities giving small speeches on Gandhiji and how his work is a guiding light for today’s youth, will also be screened.
So go ahead and get your ticket, let this Gandhi Jayanthi be more meaningful to you and your children!
