was in the midst of a controversy recently where he is said to have taken on the Government concerning his taxes and VIP Minister O Panneerselvam’s long reply on the matter. Kamal shed light on the issue on his official FB page.
Here is what Kamal Haasan had to say. “ The media had reported that I had questioned the Government about my taxes and their status. But I insist that I have not given any interview to the media. I had sent an Email in English to a North Indian journalist friend, and its rough Tamil translation has gone viral. The mail is about TN and its sorry state of affairs concerning the rains and floods and the suffering of the common people. I would not have paid my taxes if I was in doubt. I always do my duty at all times."
"I am not replying to Mr. Panneerselvam. I do not wish to disturb political parties and other organizations which are working to help the people in their crisis. I believe in keeping personal likes and dislikes aside and wish to work in a constructive way to bring the people out of their misery and pain.” His Narpani Iyakkam was actively involved in welfare activities for the people for 36 years, and this was irrespective of the ruling government. Kamal was not aligned with any political party, and this was mainly so that he could continue welfare measures while collaborating with all people involved.
