Dhayanidhi Azhagiri is a Tamil cinema producer and distributor, who is the grandson of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, ‘
’ and son of former Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers, M. K. Alagiri. His friends and relatives also call him by other names like Dhaya and Durai. He is the owner of the Tamil film production and distribution company, Cloud Nine Movies. It was established in 2008 and is co-owned with Vivek Rathinavel and has its headquarters in Chennai. Dhayanidhi also has 50 % of the shares in a cable MSO-JAK Communications that provides its services to the districts of Thiruvallur and Chennai. Dhayanidhi did his education from The College of Engineering in Guindy. In 2010, he got married to Anusha, who pursues advocacy in Chennai. His works usually are based from Cloud Nine Movie banners that he owns.
He won the Best Producer Award (ITFA) for the movie ‘
’ in 2011. Mankatha is an action based movie with
in the lead role. Some of the movies produced are ‘Thamizh Padam’, ‘Thoonga Nagaram’, ‘’Udhayam NH4’, ‘

’. The movie banners also distributed the following films; ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’, ‘Paiyaa’, ‘
’ apart from other films. A project called ‘Soodhadi’ was also being produced which has been scrapped off.
Currently, he is facing charges in a case that has been filed against him regarding a Rs 16,000 crore mining scam. The Madurai district court has issued a warrant against him which is non bailable. He has been absconding ever since the controversy came to light and his family members have shown ignorance to his whereabouts.
