Dhayanidhi Azhagiri is a Tamil cinema producer and distributor, who is the grandson of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, ‘ Karunanidhi’ and son of former Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers, M. K. Alagiri. His friends and relatives also call him by other names like Dhaya and Durai. He is the owner of the Tamil film production and distribution company, Cloud Nine Movies. It was established in 2008 and is co-owned with Vivek Rathinavel and has its headquarters in Chennai. Dhayanidhi also has 50 % of the shares in a cable MSO-JAK Communications that provides its services to the districts of Thiruvallur and Chennai. Dhayanidhi did his education from The College of Engineering in Guindy. In 2010, he got married to Anusha, who pursues advocacy in Chennai. His works usually are based from Cloud Nine Movie banners that he owns.

He won the Best Producer Award (ITFA) for the movie ‘ Mankatha’ in 2011. Mankatha is an action based movie with Ajith Kumar in the lead role. Some of the movies produced are ‘Thamizh Padam’, ‘Thoonga Nagaram’, ‘’Udhayam NH4’, ‘ Vadacurry’ and ‘ Thagaraaru’. The movie banners also distributed the following films; ‘Vaaranam Aayiram’, ‘Paiyaa’, ‘ Vaanam’ apart from other films. A project called ‘ Soodhadi’ was also being produced which has been scrapped off.

Currently, he is facing charges in a case that has been filed against him regarding a Rs 16,000 crore mining scam. The Madurai district court has issued a warrant against him which is non bailable. He has been absconding ever since the controversy came to light and his family members have shown ignorance to his whereabouts.

Born as Latha Rangachari, Latha is a philanthropist, film producer and a playback singer of India. She was born in Chennai and has done her Masters in English literature from Ethiraj College for Women, Chennai. She is the wife of famous Indian legendary actor Rajinikanth, who mainly works in the Tamil cinema. She first met Rajinikanth when she was a student in Ethiraj. Rajinikanth was already an established actor and Latha went to interview him for her college magazine on the sets of film Thillu Mullu. During that interview, Rajinikanth asked Latha if she would marry him and she told him to ask her parents. In Latha, Rajinikanth found his anchor. They got married on 26th February 1981. The couple has two daughters – Aishwarya R. Dhanush and Soundarya Rajinikanth, who are both in the film industry. Aishwarya is married to the popular actor and National award winner Dhanush. Being a philanthropist, she is the founder and correspondent of a Chennai-based school- The Ashram. The school started in the year 1991. She is also the chairperson of Ocher Studios, a production company started by her younger daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth. In the early 1980s, Latha started working as a playback singer in Tamil cinema. Few of her famous songs include ‘Netru Indha Neram' from Tik Tik Tik- a Kamal Haasan starred movie in 1981 and ‘Kadavul Ullamae' from Anbulla Rajinikanth in 1984. She also gave her voice to Rajini 25 in 1999, which was a musical album that celebrated the 25 years of Rajinikanth's career. She has also produced ‘Maaveeran' in 1986 and ‘Valli' in 1993. In Valli, she also sang the song ‘Kukkukoo Koovum.' She has also sung ‘Manappenin Sathiyam' from the directorial debut of her younger daughter "Kochadaiiyaan." She has also released a music album ‘Maaya Jaalam' and ‘Saraal'. Latha also has family connections with noted actor and playwright Y.G. Mahendra. Latha is his sister sister-in-law. The veteran actress of Bollywood Vyjayanthimala is also a close relative of Latha. In 2015, an FIR was filed against her. According to FIR, she has forged the documents for the dispute linked with the satellite rights of the film ‘Kochadaiiyan'. In 2016, the high court dismissed the case as no relevant documents in the complainant's support were produced.

One of the new entrants to the tinsel town of Tamilian movies, this producer has marked his entry with the movie ‘Zero’, directed by Shiv Mohaa, a supernatural romantic thriller, which has received critical acclaim from audiences of the Tamilian descent, both in India and abroad. Not only this, the unique narratives and the script, coupled with the work done by the actors, make the movie all the more appealing to the audiences. After the success of Zero, this producer has yet to announce his future projects. Not much is known about this producer. However, Shiv Mohaa a.k.a Arun Kumar in one of his interviews to a prominent journal mentioned how Balaji Kapa whole-heartedly welcomed his novice idea. The movie produced by Kapa along with Madhav Media Productions (founded in the year 2014) were instrumental in the successful making and materialization of the idea which went on further only to be made into the said movie. The movie stars Shivada Nair and Ashwin Kakumanu and as the lead pair, and JD Chakravarthy has been cast to play a pivotal supporting role. The movie got fairly positive reviews yet had been critically acknowledged. New release "Zero" faired quite well by doing a business of Rs 12.66 lakh in just 81 shows in the weekend of its release itself. The movie also earned substantial profits in the subsequent weeks as well. Much is not known about Balaji Kapa’s personal life so far, and the only minuscule information, which is available to us is only with regards to his movie “Zero” which is much talked about by the media since 2014, i.e. the very time since which the shooting started. However, the exposure, which was given to the movie by the media, undoubtedly has highlighted Balaji Kapa and his contributions. All that can be said, for the meantime, is that this producer has more success to achieve and more is left to be known about him, by the media, film fanatics and his audiences alike.
