Karun Raman

Karun Raman is a well-known Choreographer and a Celebrity Stylist. He was born on 3rd May 1990, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He completed his schooling at Santhome Hr. Secondary School, Chennai. Raman has also appeared in movies; he debuted in the Tamil Cine field with KS Ravikumar’s comedy film Aethirree, starring R. Madhavan as the protagonist. Raman is a man with numerous titles, choreography, and styling being his niche aside, he has written several articles for the Deccan Herald as a columnist.

Apart from that, he also became the South India ambassador for ‘Balma’, a social networking application where the members of LGBTQIA+ can connect; the app is confined to the users of South Asia. Created by the London-based developer Peter Singh, the app is available in several local Indian languages such as Tamil, Telegu, Marathi, and Bengali. Raman is also affiliated with another app called ‘Barman’. Through this app, customers can make contactless orders in nightclubs. Lately, Karun Raman has explored the realm of entrepreneurship by undertaking the distribution of St. Nicolaus Vodka for South-East Asia.

With his remarkable skills, Raman has explored various facets of the industry and achieved immense success in his ventures. He will be the first South Indian Celebrity Fashion Stylist to direct the Mr. India show. This is the 17th edition of the grand program in Goa. He started his journey as a dancer in the nightclubs of Paris. Later, he went on to become a part of many fashion shows held across Europe. He is passionate about dancing and has learned the art since the early stage of his life.

Raman has been vocal about his sexuality and his preferences as Gay. He is one of the very few South Indian cine personalities who openly advocate homosexuality. Life was not easy for him initially; he faced severe judgment and was looked down upon. The concept of identifying oneself as non-binary was not a common phenomenon in India. Raman getting candid in an interview with the Hashtag India Magazine, narrates that he chose to evade movies alleging, that he was scrutinized, judged, and bullied by his fellow stuntmen and other crew members, for his personal choices despite being skillful in his professional life.
