English Producer Scott Rudin

Scott Rudin is a veteran American Film and theatrical producer.He was born on July 14 1958, in New York City and his teenage passed in the town of Baldwin on the Long Island. He has produced over 90 films during his career as a producer which included films likeThe Social Network and western True Grit. When he was 16, he was working as an assistant to the great and legendary Theatre producer Kermit Bloomgarden. Later, he worked for two more great producers namely, Robert Whitehead and Emanuel Azenberg. Soon, he started his own production house which cast a lot of Broadway shows for Mike Nichols which Annie (1977). With time, he mastered in the work which was proved every time with his astonishing productions.

In the year of 1980, he moved to Los Angeles where he started working at Edgar J. Scherick Associates. During his work there, he produced several films including NBC’s miniseries Little Gloria…Happy at Last (1952),I’m Dancing as Fast as I can(1981) and the documentary He Makes Me Feel Like Dancin’(1983) which got him the prestigious Oscar. Just after working with the Sherick Associates, he started his production house with the name Scott Rudin Productions whose first film was Mrs. Soffel with Gillian Armstrong.

But, he kept his production house in dormancy when he signed up with the 20 Century-Fox as Executive Producer, and subsequently became the president by 1986, at the age of 29. On 1 August 1992,a deal between Scott Rudins and Tri-Star Pictures was signed but moved back to Paramount because of some unknown reasons and then stayed with them for almost 15 years. He produced several films including Addams Family Values. In 2004, after the resignation Paramount’s Chairwoman Sherry Lansing and simultaneous departure of Jonathan Dolgen(President), Rudin left Paramount and came up to a deal with a five-year look-pact with Disney which allowed him to make movies under their banner.

Rudin also worked in theatrical productions. Produced by Scott Rudin and the Jujamcyn theaters, the stage play Face Value was one of the most unsuccessful staging of David Henry Hwang. Later, with the same theatrical house, he signed a deal to produce new theatrical plays. During his long stand as a producer, he produced more than 90 films which included No Country for Old Man, There Will Be Blood, Seven Guitars, The Ride Down Mt. Morgan and much more. These movies included revival stories of Broadway, many documentaries and many more worth mentioning creations which left the world spellbound.

In 1994, for the production of Passion which starred Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine, he was awarded the Best Musical Tony Award.In the year of 2016, six Rudin Productions received Tony Nominations. In the year 2008, two of his productions were nominated for 8 Oscars each.
