Plot

Shanmugam is a gas delivery agent. He is married to Lakshmi and has two kids, Varun, aged 11 and Rudra, aged 7. Despite his weak financial condition, Shanmugam joins his kids in a reputed school. If they don’t get good ranks as he expects, he doesn’t hesitate to beat them. Varun is interested in riding his father’s two-wheeler, which they named, Parachute. Rudra loves to take a pillion ride with her brother. Without their parents’ knowledge, they take the vehicle and enjoy their ride. Meanwhile, Kirubakaran, a traffic police, charges a youngster for drunk and drive and seizes his bike. The youngster decides to take revenge on Kirubakaran. On the other side, Lakshmi and Shanmugam are searching for their kids. Lakshmi believes that as the vehicle is missing, Varun might have taken Rudra with him for a ride, and starts shivering regarding the kids’ condition. Meanwhile, a thief loots the seized bike from the police station. How are these three incidents inter-related? The rest of the series follows an emotional drama.

Star Performance

Kishore is a natural actor, whom we have been witnessing from Jayamkondan and Polladhavan times. His performance is so real, and he brings in front of us a strict father who is very caring and wants his children to get educated in a reputed school despite his weak financial situation. Though his love for his children is not expressed by him through dialogue, his emotions when he finds them missing showcase his love. Karthika, aka Kani is decent in her performance as a worried mother. Her chemistry with Kishore is good. Krishna is a good actor. His expressions are perfect, when he realizes that he is stuck in an issue. Kaali Venkat is good in his usual neighbour role. The kids Iyal and Shakthi are so perfect with their performances. They have taken in what the director said, and delivered the emotions perfectly.

Analysis

The series has multiple tracks and the director managed to interlink them well. The screenplay is perfectly woven. The relationship and emotions are perfectly displayed. The kids’ bonding and their parents suffering are well-captured. The series starts a bit slow, but, falls in the right track after a few minutes and engages the audience till the end. The BGM by Yuvan perfectly blends with the script. The visuals are good and the night lighting is perfect. The editing is pretty decent, and we don’t feel that we need an extra cut.

Parachute is an emotional drama with measured performances by the stars which makes us watch it definitely once!
