Sraboni is a talented singer and is well versed in thumri music. She sings ghazals and bhajans. Sraboni says her musical talent comes from her mother, Smt Lakshmi Mukherjee, a student of Shri Ranjit Bose. Ranjit was a student of Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan. Sraboni began her training in Kolkata and continued the same in Cochin, where she moved with her family. Sraboni relocated to Mumbai in 1987 and completed her Sangeet Visharad in the first phase from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mumbai, under Smt Shashikala Kaikini. After that, she had the privilege of studying under Pt Dinkar Kaikini for a year and continued his training under Smt Shampa Pakrashi.
