1. Anita Kanwal

Anita Kanwal is a prominent Indian actress and producer. She was born on April 9, 1954 and has been in the television industry for over 25-years. She was known for essaying the role of Amrita Seth in the Hindi drama series, Banegi Apni Baat on Zee TV.


She played as Subhada in the historical drama series, Chanakya which was aired on DD National. Later, she acted as Indu Singh in another DD National series, Shanti – Ek Aurat Ki Kahani. Anita was also seen in Sansaar and Junoon. In 1998, she played as Sumitra in the Hindi drama series, Just Mohabbat on Sony TV and television series, Chattan. Subsequently, the actress took a part in Goonj Ateet Ki in 2002, Aa Bahen Chugli Karen in 2004 and Sonpari in 2005; followed by few more serial that were added to her credit including the very popular drama series, Sasural Genda Phool on Star Plus, where she played as the grandmother of Ishaan (played by Jay Soni) from which she earned the Best Saas-Bahu Jodi Award at the India Ne Bana Di Jodi Awards in 2010. Her real-life daughter, Pooja Kanwal Mahtani was also part of the show and essayed the role of Disha Kashyap. After the show went off-air, Anita took a hiatus on year 2012 due to health issues, which according to the doctor is a rare disease. She suffered fluid accumulation surrounding her heart and treatment includes intake of steroids. But the actress managed to survive and came back to the limelight in year 2013. On her return, she played as Nanima in Rakesh Kumar’s Gustakh Dil.


Besides television series, she also appeared in few films like the Geetanjali in 1993. She was debuted as a film actress through the 1994 Bollywood romantic comedy film, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa from where she acted as the mother of Chris (played by Deepak Tijori). The actress was also seen in films like Laawaris in 1999 and in the Bollywood romance film, Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat which stars Sunil Shetty and Arjun Rampal. In 2002, Anita also acted in Mujhse Dosti Karoge and Na Tum Jaano Na Hum. Later, she was seen in the Hindi film, Gangaajal where she played as a small-town widow. Anita was also seen in the film, ‘Kyon?’, The Hangman and Team: The Force. 

In 2002, Anita set up her own production house, Small Screen Productions and produced the television series, Goonj Ateet Ki.

2. Mrinal Dev Kulkarni

Mrinal Kulkarni is one of a famous face in small screen. She is from Pune, Maharashtra. She completed her Master's degree in Linguistics from Pune University. In age of 16 she made her entry in Marathi television drama “Swamy”. She played a character Peshawe Madhavrao's wife Ramabai. Later the success of Swami she continue her career in television drama like Avantika, Ristey, Khamoshiyan and many more. She acted in a television drama called Shrikant. It is based one of a famous Novel of Saratchandra Chatterjee.

She became famous by the Hindi television drama named “Son Pari”. She played a character of Pari (angel).She worked in many Marathi and Hindi movies. Her first movie as a debut actress was Jai Dakshineshwar Kali Maa, release in 1996. She acted in Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in 2000, Ashiq and Veer Savarkar in 2001, Kuch Meetha Ho Jaye in 2005, Quest in 2006. Her last movie was Chodo Kal Ki Baatein, release in 2012.

She bagged screen Award for Best Actress category for Marathi movie named Jodidar in 2000.She won Star Parivar Award for the character of Pari in Sonpari. She also bagged National Award for movie “The Quest”. She married Ruchir Kulkarni, he is a criminal lawyer and has son Virajas Kulkarni.

3. Akshay Anand

Akshay Anand is a Bollywood actor who became popular for his performances in many Hindi television serials and films. His real name is John Gardener and used the screen name, Akshay Anand from which he acted as Akshay in Indradhanush and Dev Anand added Anand to his name when they were doing the film, Hum Naujawan. He was married to Rama and they have two kids namely Ayaan and Anaaya. He studied at St. Xavier’s School in Mumbai and pursue his Economics course. Initially, he is not interested in acting until one day, while riding in a train on his way to Delhi, a co-passenger approached him about shoes. It turns out that the actor is the popular director, Anand Mahendroo and offered him a role in Indradhanush.


He was debuted as a television actor through the children’s television series, Indradhanush which was aired on DD National in year 1989. He is also part of the award-winning soap, Thoda Hai Thode Ki Zaroorat Hai on Sony TV in year 1997 and Choti Maa – Ek Anokha Bandhan on Zee TV. He also bags a role on DD2 9 Gold’s Mere Samne Wali Khidki. In 2009, Anand played as Manish Sabharwal in the Balaji Telefilms’ Bandini which was aired on NDTV Imagine and played the role of Aatish Parikh in the soap, Basera. He also played as Brijesh Pratap Singh in the television series, Saat Phere. In 2010, he played the character of Amar in the crime thriller series, Kaali – Ek Agnipariksha on STAR Plus channel. He played the main lead, replacing Aman Verma in bagging the role of Adityapratap Singh in Kehta Hai Dil which was also aired on STAR Plus. Anand also made an appearance in the television soap, Behenein. In year 2012, he appeared as Baldev Guggal in the television drama series, Suvreen Guggal – Topper of the Year and in 2014, the brilliant actor acted as Annopraj Premkishor Shekhar in the very popular drama series, Balika Vadhu – Kachchi Umar Ke Pakke Rishte on Colors TV.


He was starred in the Hindi feature film, Do Pal in 1991 under the direction of Ravi Rai. He was also seen in the Bollywood film, Pyaar Ka Tarana in 1993. Anand has done five films in year 1996 including his debut film in the Kannada film industry entitled, America America where he bagged the role of Shashank who went to U.S. to pursue his studies and when he came back to India, he started to tell how great America is. In the same year, Anand also made his debut in the Malayalam film industry and has done the film, Indraprastham by Haridas. In 1997, the actor essayed the role of Jugal Chopra in Mahesh Bhatt’s Tamanna and played the role of Suraj in the action film, Daava. Anand also acted in Aamir Khan’s starrer film, Ghulam in 1998 where he received praises for her performance in the film. In the same year, he essayed the role of Anand R. Desai in the Hindi drama film, Zakhm and played as the spoiler in the love story of Saif Ali Khan and Twinkle Khanna’s characters in the film, Yeh Hai Mumbai Meri Jaan in 1999. Later, he donned the role of Harish Patel in the Bollywood action film, Aaghaaz. Anand also acted as Ram Prasad Bismil in the Hindi film, 23rd March 1932: Shaheed by Guddu Dhanoa; a film that portrays the events on the hanging of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev in year 1931. Anand was also seen as the uncle of Abhimanyu Singh (played by Sidharth Malhorta) in the box-office romantic comedy film, Student of the Year in 2012. 

Anand has passion for writing too; in fact, he wrote one of the four stories of the horror series, Raat Hone Ko Hai.

4. Yatin Karyekar

His first movie “Katha” was released in 1983, which was a big hit for him; he was appreciated big time for this movie. Yatin did “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak” in the year 1988. 5. Shammi Kapoor

Shammi Kapoor: - 'Elvis Presley' of India. Shammi Kapoor was born to Prithviraj Kapoor, the patriarch of the Kapoor family who’s been an important part of Bollywood movies and to Ramsarni Mehra Kapoor as Shamsher Raj Kapoor on October 21, 1931, in Bombay Presidency, British India. He was the second of three sons born to Prithviraj Kapoor. Shammi Kapoor’s father was one of the pioneers of Indian theatre and Hindi movies. Ever since his birth, Shammi Kapoor was interested in film and theatre. He was brought up in Peshawar, Pakistan and Kapoor Haveli in Kolkata. After his education, he joined his father’s New Theatres Studio. After few months, he entered the film industry as a junior artiste in the year 1948. He made his debut with the film Jeevan Jyoti, which was directed by Mahesh Kaul. He initially started his career by taking serious roles like Naqaband Daku, later in 1957, he attained the image of light-hearted playboy through movies like Tumsa Nahin Dekha and Dil Deko Dekho. 6. Anang Desai

Anang Desai was born on May 4, 1953 at Ahmedabad. He is married to ‘Chitra Desai’, who is a lawyer and has two sons. He went to ‘National School of Drama’, Delhi to hone his acting skills and graduated in 1978. He then, for the next 8 years, remained connected to institute’s Theater Company.
He started his acting career with his debut appearance in the Oscar winning Hollywood movie, ‘Gandhi’. The movie was released in 1982, wherein he performed the role of ‘J.B Kriplani’. Since then, he had acted in around 85 Bollywood movies. He has performed almost all types of characters in his 3 decades of Bollywood career.
He has also been working for TV industry since 1987, when he appeared in the political TV series, ‘Raj Se Swaraj’. The next year, he did a few episodes of all time hit Tele series, ‘Bharat Ek Khoj’ as ‘Raja Ram Mohan Roy’ and as ‘Ibrahim Lodi’. This historical drama was aired during 1988, on Doordharshan or DD National, as it is currently known as. In his illustratious career, he had worked with top Indian directors including Shyam Benegal, Subhash Ghai, Mahesh Bhatt and Satish Kaushik among others. He has acted in more than eighty TV-shows so far. The last year, he was seen in a Psychological thriller ‘Main Naa Bhoolungi’ as ‘Mahanto Jagannath’. The serial has been aired from Dec 2013 and recently been concluded during the month of Aug 2014 on Sony TV. Currently he is busy in doing a TV sitcom, titled, ‘Chandrakant Chiplunkar Seedi Bambawala’ where in he is performing the role of ‘Hasubai Mehta’. The show has started on 18th Aug 2014 and is running on SAB TV.
He won two Star Pariwar awards for the role of ‘Tulsidas Parekh’ aka ‘Babuji’ in the TV sitcom, ‘Khichdi’. The serial was broadcasted from 2002 to 2004 on Star Plus. The second season was named as ‘Instant Khichdi’ wherein he again donned the role of ‘Tulsidas Parekh’ but this time the TV series was broadcasted on Star One (a sister channel of Star Plus) from 2005 to 2006. This was followed by the movie with the same name, ‘Khichdi: The Movie’ which was released during Oct 2010 and rated as average.
