Plot

Madhuravani and Vijay Anthony, the journalists, are assigned to do a cover story on Savitri after the actress had gone to coma. Madhuravani started scripting the story of Savitri, after collecting a lot of details from various sources. Star Performance

Keerthy Suresh hasn’t acted in the film but lived in it. She had really put 100% effort to transform herself to Savitri. We could say that Keerthy Suresh has nailed it and had done justice to the role, which she committed. Dulquer Salmaan has done his best in this film. This is one of his career-best performances. Samantha has done a great job as Madhuravani.

Analysis

The vision of Nag Ashwin is the foremost part in the film, Mahanati. Casting team needs to be appreciated, as each of the characters in the movie is handpicked. Nag Ashwin had done a great job by organizing all the big stars in a film and it creates Goosebumps. The film is technically sound and the production values are highly appreciable. A lot of effort has been taken to bring the biopic a perfect one and it is visible. Besides delivering her on-screen history, this film also deals with her off-screen incidents. Savitri, who was undoubtedly the best actress, hadn’t had good final days. Mahanati deals with Savitri’s life from her childhood to death.

What’s There?

Keerthy Suresh’s excellent performance will be spoken for her lifetime
Dulquer and Samantha had done neat jobs
Nag Ashwin’s direction is perfect
Cinematography and the music are the greatest pluses in the film

What’s Not There?

Nothing big, except some minor flaws

Verdict

Mahanati comes with a lot of incidents in the life of Savitri, which many of the people, even Savitri’s ardent fans, don’t know. Nag Ashwin’s perfect filming technique and the leading stars’ performances had made the old incidents come alive in front of us. This film is not only for Savitri, Keerthy Suresh, Samantha, DQ fans but for the entire Tamil and Telugu film industry, where Savitramma lived as the Queen. Go to the movie halls and watch Mahanati and you will not be disappointed!
