Natarajan Sankaran

Natarajan Shankaran is a music director in the Tamil cinema industry. He has composed around four films in Kollywood which was received well by audiences. Natarajan followed his passion for music that led him to the cinema. Natarajan hails from a modest family.

He was born and brought up in Thirunelveli, a district in the state of Tamil Nadu. Natarajan was born to Sankaran and Sundari. Natarajan’s father worked as an electrician. His mother was a housewife. Natarajan pursued his education and is a degree holder in Mechanical Engineering.

He worked in Delhi for a long time before he decided it was time to make music his life. He is an 8th-grade pianist graduating from Musee Musicals which affiliated to the London Trinity College of Music. Natarajan got his first big break into cinema in the year 2011.

He was approached to compose the songs for the film ‘Moodar Kootam’ which was directed by Naveen and came out in 2013. Surprisingly, Naveen and Natarajan had been long-time associates who shared the passion for making it big in this industry.

Naveen entrusted Natarajan to compose all the songs in this film. Natarajan composed a whopping 14 songs for the film. Natarajan remade the song ‘Neeyum Bommai’ sung by the legendary k.J.Yesudas in the year 1964.

Natarajan roped in the maestro to render the remade version of the song which became a highlight of this album. Singer Yesudas and exemplary director Bharathiraja released the music album of his debut film. All the songs in the film were appreciated.

In 2014, Natarajan bagged two films. Chimbudevan got Natarajan to score the music for his film ‘Oru Kanniyum Moonu Kalavaaniyum.’ This film also got fame for Natarajan. His next film was ‘Kappal’ in the same year directed by Krish who earlier worked as the assistant to director Shankar.

These film songs became hits. It became one of the top trends in various radio station charts. The song ‘Kadhal Casatta’ became a hit amongst the youth. The film had Music Maestro Ilayaraja compose a song which was the remix of his hit song ‘Ooru Vittu Ooru Vandhu’ from the chart-buster ‘Karagaatakaaran.’ This song became an identity of the film.

Natarajan composed the songs of ‘Enkitta Mothathe’ which released in the year 2017. Natarajan also composed the song of the film ‘Kolanji,’ which after a short delay released in 2017. Natarajan has also donned the role of a playback singer in ‘Moodar Kootam.’ All his songs have a trademark that makes them unique. Natarajan is a talent with a bright future.
