G V Sharada

G V Sharada is a veteran Indian actress who has worked for the Kannada and Hindi film industries. She had spent most of her childhood in Karnataka, India. She is the daughter of former actress, Venkateshamma, who worked as a theatre artist for Gubbi Shree Channa Basaveshwara Nataka Company. Sharada spent her childhood days traveling as her mother was a theater artist, staging shows all around. For this reason, she had the opportunity to have a closer look at the actors, and she dreamed of becoming an actress on the big screen. Sharada made her film debut when she was 12 years old, and her first film is GV Iyer's critically acclaimed Post Master (1964), where she played the second heroine. Sharada worked in a variety of multi-starrers and commercial entertainers from the 1960s until the 1990s. “Bala Nagamma (1965)”, “Mavana Magalu (1965), “Dudde Doddappa (1967)”, “Upasane (1974)”, and “Trimurti (1975)” are some of her films.

Throughout her 40-year career, she has appeared in over 50 Kannada films. In 2003, while shooting for Sadhu Kokila's "Rakta Kanneeru," she had a major injury on her ribs and hence had to take a break for some time. However, after fifteen years, she made a comeback with Majid Majidi's first Indian film, "Beyond the Clouds," where she played the role of a grandmother.
