Sawan Khan Manganiyar

A Rajasthani folk artist who has not only got a magnificent voice but also is acquainted with the varied genres of music is ‘Sawan Khan Manganiyar.’ He is also a phenomenal storyteller and has the unique ability to narrate so greatly that he takes you into the story with himself. Since his childhood, he has been associated with music as his family has been pursuing music for a very long time. His ancestors have performed in royal courts, wedding processions of the Rajputs, etc. He deduces “music is like a wind which can strike from anywhere, and the same happened with him a long time back.” He began learning music at an early age and used to practice all the time. Later, he commenced performing for the village people. Further, he went to Pakistan along with his cousin to pursue his passion. His first grand show was in Hyderabad, Pakistan, with his Ustad Khair Mohammad.

In India, he has performed around the festivals in some of the famous states. His greatest triumph till now is when he worked with BBC, for which he traveled to more than 40 countries and performed there. He has worked with the legend "A R Rahman" for the movie Highway and was also seen on Coke Studio Season 2. Now, He performs with the band, and they are the group of congenital professional musicians whose music has entertained and has been greatly acknowledged by wealthy landlords for generations. He has performed all over the world and has gained huge recognition due to his mellifluous voice. His dream is to teach this folk music to the upcoming generation as he doesn’t want his folk style to die. He has received a lot of respect and is truly entitled to all this popularity.
