Babita is a yesteryear actress who worked for a short time in Hindi film industry. She is the mother of Bollywood’s famous actresses,
Karisma Kapoor
and Kareena Kapoor. Born on 20 April 1948, she worked in just 19 films. Haseena Maan Jayegi, Kismat and Farz commercially hit in her career. Born on 20th April 1948, Babita hails from a conservative Sindhi family.Â
Â
Babita ventured into the film industry inspired by the achievement of her aunt Sadhana, who was also an actress. She debuted with
Rajesh Khanna
in the 1967 flick Raaz, sharing screen space with Rajesh Khanna. This is the first film of Rajesh Khanna too. This film bombed at the box office but her next venture Farz was successful. Producer G P Sippy carried out screen test of Babita and hence the latter got an opportunity to work in his film Dus Lakh. Later, she became a star to reckon with. The college girls were attracted towards Babita for her tight churidars kurtas and the unique eye glasses she wore.Â
Â
Ek Hasina Do Diwane, Banphool, Jeet, Kal Aaj Aur Kal, Kab Kyoon Aur Kahan, Bikhre Moti, Pehchan, Anmol Moti, Doli, Anjaana, Tumse Achcha Kaun Hai, Ek Shriman Ek Shrimati, and Aulad are some of the films in which Babita acted. Babita worked with her would-be (then) in the successful flick Kal Aaj Aur Kal.Â
Â
Babita put a full stop to her acting profession during the mid-70s and got wedded to
Randhir Kapoor
. She left the industry owing to the limitations set by her in-laws. However, she gave full support to her lovely daughters who are hot properties of Bollywood. She is indeed a devoted mother and looks after the careers of Karisma and Kareena.Â
Â
Babita was not a good dancer and had to be prompted by an assistant director for her flick Tumse Achcha Kaun Hai.
