Barbapapa was born when the couple met in a Paris cafe and began writing together. They married eventually. In the 1970s, the Barbapapa series was originally published in French. The series was translated into over 30 languages, gaining worldwide acclaim. The Barbapapa family, known for their ability to shape-shift at will, is the primary character in the books. Barbapapas have blob-like heads and arms but no legs in their natural state. Barbapapas can take any form, but they have the same face and color scheme.

In 1988, they were adapted for the first time into a film. Talus Taylor was a biology teacher and the partner of Annette Tison, co-creator of the famous Barbapapa series. The series began as an album in 1970. Later, the set evolved into a cartoon and a magazine in 1976. Taylor died at 82 in Paris.
