Neil Arestrup is a famous French actor, screenwriter, and a director. He has worked in French theatre, acted in award-winning movies and has directed numerous too. He is the jack of all trades related to acting and cinematography. Born on 8th February 1949 in Montreuil, France and Neil are known for his movies like A Private Affair (2002) and Diplomacy (2014). He has won 3 César awards for the best actor in a supporting role. Born in Montreuil, France, Neil is the son of a Danish Father and a French Mother.

His family was modest and carried out a Danish tradition; Neil grew up in the suburbs of France and was interested in acting from a young age. During high school, he trained under his drama instructor Tania Balachova and focused on theatre in his initial times. Neil Arestrup wanted to go on to the big-screen; as a result, in 1973 Neil appeared in the cinematic movie Miss O’Gynie. In the following year, he also was a part of Stavisky Alain Resnais. He never left the theatre and carried out directorial and supporting roles on the stage.

Since 1973, Neil has been a part of stage plays like La Famille (1973), Miss Julie (1983), etc. He has acted in movies like La Rumba (1986), War Horse Click to look into! >> Read More... (2011), etc. Since the middle of the 1980s, Neil acted in some feature films like The Temptation of Venus (1991), where he plays a Hungarian conductor wrestling with the Paris Opera; Lulu Kreutz's Picnic (1999), where he plays a famous and unhappy cellist.

In 2005, Neil Arestrup acted in the movie The Beat that my heart skipped, which won him his first César award for the best actor in a supporting role. Then in 2009, Neil rocked his role in the movie A Prophet, this movie helped him win three awards; César Award for Best Supporting Actor, LA Film Critics Association Award for Best Supporting Actor, International Cinephile Society Awards - Best Supporting Actor.

In 2014, he was again awarded César for Best Supporting Actor for Quai d'Orsay, in which he plays Claude Maupas, a Chief Minister of the Cabinet. The win made Neil the most awarded actor in this category. Neil Arestrup later founded a theatre school, Le Théatre – Ecole du Passage, which teaches acting skills to young aspirants of cinema.
