Dennis Weaver was a renowned American actor known for his roles in several TV serials. He was a complete entertainer and always believed in making everyone happy. He was born in Joplin, Missouri, and had a very normal childhood. He was born to Walter Weaver and, Lenna Prather. He was of English, Irish, Scottish, Osage and Cherokee decent.

Dennis, from his childhood, loved acting and desired to become an actor since then. He switched places in childhood quite often, as he moved to Shreveport Louisiana and then moved to Manteca California. He lived in these places for a very short period. He completed his primary education from Joplin Junior College and later moved to the University of Oklahoma at Norman. He studied acting and drama at Norman and also performed at several events. He was a fit and a competitive person and always cherished different challenges in life. He also tried his luck in 1948 Olympics, where he participated in the decathlon. He finished sixth in racing where Bob Mathias won, and he later went on to win the 1500 meters run. After all his races he decided to continue working in the acting field and later made his debut with ‘Horizons West’ and ‘The Redhead from Wyoming’ in 1952. He was guided a lot by Shelly Winters, who gave him the contract from Universal Studios. After his debut, he never looked back and continued working with full dedication. He appeared in many movies in the following years like ‘Law and Order’, ‘Column South’, ‘The Golden Blade’, ‘War Arrow’, ‘Dragnet’ and much more. He later started working in TV series with ‘Schlitz Playhouse of Stars’ and ‘Dragnet’, along with this started the era of Dennis and his love affair with TV serials. Starting from 1950's he continued to appear in almost every other TV serial. He was a regular face in the Television industry. He is famously known for his work as Chester in the famous TV series ‘Gunsmoke’. He later worked in ‘Kentucky Jones’, where he had the main role and was loved by all. He continued working in many TV serials throughout the latter half of the century. He was a part of man great TV serials like ‘Pearl’, ‘Centennial’, ‘Stone’, ‘Emerald Point N.A.S.’, ‘Magnum, P.I.’ and many more. He is a revelation in the field of acting, especially on small screen. He was also a humanitarian and dedicated environmentalist. He has contributed a lot for preserving wildlife and making environment healthy. He devoted 175 acres of land to preserving the environment and recreating wasteland. He also helped in the cleaning of rivers and encouraging a healthy style of living.

His aura in the police-drama ‘McCloud’ as Deputy Marshal Sam McCloud is loved by all and was one of the most admired performances of his. Dennis was also elected as the President of Screen Actors Guild in 1973.

In 1945, he tied knots with Geraldine Stowell and was with her until his death. He had three children, Richard, Rustin and Robert Weaver. He was a keen activist and showed it many times. Dennis was a vegetarian and was committed towards yoga, where he followed Indian guru Paramahansa Yoganand. His personal home called the ‘Earth Ship' was built on the Ridgway, Colorado. The house was made up of complete recycled materials and also featured advanced ecological technologies. He has given a lot to the world and has always inspired everyone in their life. He died due to cancer on 24 February 2006. He is always remembered for his work in both real and reel life.
