Sanjit Narwekar is an Indian scriptwriter, author, and documentary and short filmmaker. He went to Bombay Scottish High School and has done his graduation in Statistics from the University of Mumbai. After that, he completed his post-graduation in Economics from the University of Mumbai. Sanjit, after completing his studies pursued a career in journalism. He had been writing since his time in college and during his years as a journalist, he wrote many articles for newspapers totaling up to 2500. He has been writing for over 50 years now. He has also worked for All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan, interviewing various people and hosting talk shows. Sanjit is the author of 20 books revolving around the history of Indian Cinema. Sanjit was a member of the Film Advisory Board of the Government of India.

He has written and directed documentaries like ‘India Unveiled’ (1998), ‘Life On the Edge’ (2002), ‘Dreaming Movies’ (2007), ‘Nations In Turmoil’ (2011) and he has written and produced ‘Lavni’ (1998). In the year 2020, he was awarded the Bimal Roy Memorial Award for documenting Indian Cinema’s History with knowledge and scholarship. In 2022, Sanjay received the DR. V Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award at Mumbai International Film Festival for Documentaries, Short and Animation Films.
