MG Vallabhan is an Indian lyricist well known for his wide array of talents as a lyricist, songwriter, director, and singer who predominantly worked in the Tamil film industry. MG Vallabhan was born in the town of Perinjanam, in the Thrissur district of Kerala. His family had to relocate to Chennai for better schooling, where during those school days he developed the ability to write poems and lyrics in Tamil, contrary to Malayalam, the language spoken in his birthplace, Kerala. From his early days, MG Vallabhan wrote poems that had an essence to them that was not common for a child of his age. This natural ability to write poems led to his debut in the Tamil film industry. MG Vallabhan was introduced as a lyricist for the song 'Solai Kuyile Kaalai Kathire' from the 1979 movie 'Ponnu Oorukku Pudhusu," directed by R. Selvaraj.

The maestro himself, Ilaiyaraaja, had worked as the music director in this movie. The music of the movie was well-received by the people. This was a big win, as in many regional film industries, the music may also lead to the movie becoming a huge success. Also, during his initial days, Vallabhan worked as the editor for several monthly magazines. This gave me much closer knowledge of the industry. From there, he worked mostly for Ilayaraja under several accolades, such as singer and songwriter for more than 30 songs, collaborating with several notable names like S. Janaki, K. J. Yesudas, Gangai Amaran, S.P. Balasubrahmanyam, S. P. Sailaja, etc. In 1980, he even debuted as a director through the film 'Thai Pongal," starring Sudhakar, Radhika Sarathkumar Radhika is a famous actress in multiple of languag >> Read More... and Archana in the lead roles.
