Adil Athu

Adil Athu is a well-known ‘Mappilapattu’ singer who hails from Kerala. He used to sing during his school functions but never thought he would choose singing as his career. He entered the music industry by singing famous ‘Mappilapattu’ songs in programs. After completing his studies, he went to Dubai looking for a job. But, he didn't get the job he was looking for. Instead, he got many offers to sing for different functions. He went to Dubai thinking that he cannot make music as his career. The unexpected offers made him rethink the decision. He came back in the music field by being the singer in a famous program conducted in Dubai. After coming back to Kerala, he worked with Asis Ikka.

He was the one who taught him to become a good singer. While working with Ikka, he learned many things. He was greatly inspired by Ikka's dedication when he composed each song. They used to compose more than ten songs a day. From Ikka, he learned that when they do a program, the first thing they should notice is the audience. If the audience feels less interested in the songs, they should have the backup songs to get back their attention. ‘Aripo Thiripo’ is one of the famous Mappilapattu songs. The singer Abid Kannur and others were invited to a TV show; Adil went to watch that show.

During the show, the singer said that Adil Athu was one of their musicians and made him sing the chorus with Abid. After that show, singer Jacky Rehman offered to do a show with him in the Gulf. That was the turning point in his life. Though he didn’t learn singing, he put all his efforts into giving the audience the best song. His journey was never easy but he didn’t give up. If he had continued to look for a job in Dubai, we would have lost a good singer.
