Most of the films that are made as a launch pad for actors may turn out to be a total fiasco. Akhil is one such film which featured two artists of Tollywood Akkineni Akhil and Sayesha Saigal Sayesha Saigal is a gorgeous and beautiful girl wh >> Read More... making their debut. The film has all ingredients such as songs, dances, fights, suspense etc but had unreal direction. Perhaps this is a very mediocre work of director V. V. Vinayak who is best known for his super hits like Aadi, Dil andTagore, but could not create the same magic with this film. In addition, the technical aspects (graphics work) of the film too was not-withstanding with the artwork.

It is a socio-fantasy film . It is the story of two love birds .. Akhil (Akkineni Akhil) truly loves his soul mate Divya (Sayesha Saigal) and even follows her to Europe. In Europe, the heroine gets kidnapped and Akhil reaches Africa to rescue Divya from clutches of gangster Mambo. However, all the three try to escape and move towards a forest. The movie becomes dull when the episode shifts to Africa. There is no emotional connect at all with African tribes. As the film drags, episodes after episodes become duller. The fight sequence is good and brilliant but it seems like delivering too much heroism and it almost looks like there is nothing new to watch! Finally, there is a happy ending as the lovers get united! As a debut film, Akkineni Akhil looks smart and his dancing is brilliant. He is at ease with the camera and can do fight sequences well. His dialogue delivery needed more attention. The plus point in the movie is foreign locales, music, and cinematography. The debutant heroine Sayesha Saigal looked more confident in glamour scenes.

Director V. V. Vinayak had worked hard to showcase Akhil and he has succeeded partly. It is a hugely successful venture, set in foreign locals and centered on love and action sequences and tells the story in action and it’s visual effect but the movie lacks something which makes the audience bored
