‘The visit’ is labeled as an American Found Footage horror film, where a kind of technique of video footage has been used so that it makes fictional horror movie fresh and inventive always! The film opened magnificently at the box office and even received a mixed critical appreciation. The film is directed by Manoj Shyamalan, who is an Indian-American film director and is best known for psychological thriller films like ‘The Village.' However, this film is bit disappointing as the characters are very dull. The film has talented stars, but the horror faction was missing totally!

The film has a simple story. It is the story of a brother (played by Ed Oxenbould) and sister (played by Olivia DeJonge) who wants to pay a visit to their grandparents who live on a Pennsylvania farm. They make their plan in order to have one-week stay, enjoyment, and fun in grandparents’ farmhouse. While staying in the farmhouse, they discover something disturbing and feel nervous. The kids often feel that there is a very little chance to escape from the farm house, but ultimately they escaped! When these two children were living in the farmhouse, they were tormented by fear.

Their imagination is developing daily and hence, whatever they see or hear about their grandparents give them nightmares. The children tried to explain what they see in the farm house to their mother at last. As two children get imprisoned in the farm house, they are terribly frightened and is just counting the minutes to escape!

Camera work by cinematographer Maryse Alberti Maryse Alberti is a cinematographer and works main >> Read More... is highly exceptional. She is known for handling the handheld camera and hence her job in ‘Found Footage’ technique is bright. Today, selection of this technique has been employed in horror fiction very often, yet we do not know why there were so many dull moments.

The film has some gripping thriller moments no doubt! Just because some of the scariest movies have been ‘Found Footage' movies, unfortunately, everyone is jumping on the found footage system! The film only tells us that the visit to Pennsylvania farm was a horror experience!
