Johnny” is the action thriller film directed by Vetriselvan. The film is produced by “ Thiagarajan” under the banner Staar Movies. Prashanth Thyagarajan, Sanchita Shetty, “ Prabhu,” Aathma Patrick, Ashutosh Rana, Sayaji Shinde, Devadarshini Chetan and Kalai Rani are in the star cast. The film is the official remake of Johnny Gaddar, the Bollywood film. Ranjan Durairaj is the music composer. MV Panneerselvam is the cinematographer and Shiva Saravanan is the editor.

Five people are introduced with the voice over by “ Nassar.” These five people are involved in a deal. There are betrayals in the deal. Who betrayed is the concept and how the rest of the people, finds out the betrayer is the rest of the story. Prashanth, the hero, get stuck with a team and he had to save Sanchita, who had also involved in the same deal. Did they escape smoothly? Watch the film in theaters!

Star Performance

Prabhu had always given a superb performance and he had done justice to his role in Johnny too. Sayaji Shinde has also given a neat performance as a cop. Prashanth and Sanchita Shetty’s performance are good. Sanchita proved that she is not only a glamor quotient but a performer too. Although Prashanth is a good performer, if his voice modulation is still better, his performance will be noteworthy. Anandaraj and Devadarshini’s comedy sequences are also good. However, the film didn’t have any extraordinary performance scenes.

The debutant director Vetriselvan decided to remake a hit film as his first. Thyagarajan designed the screenplay in a usual way.  The casting department needs to be appreciated for a big bunch of stars. The music composition needs a special mention here. BGM by Ranjan is excellent. Panneerselvam’s camera has done a good job, especially in the action sequence.

What’s There?

  • Screenplay and the performance of the stars are okayish

What’s Not There?

  • The story is not new
  • The narration should have been better

If the director has narrated it in an interesting manner with some twists and turns that are unpredictable, then Johnny would have been a better movie. However, it is watchable once.
