Iruvar is a Tamil political drama film co-written, produced and directed by Mani Ratnam. A.R. Rahman is the music director. The movie was subsequently dubbed in Malayalam and released with the same name and in Telugu with name Iddaru.

Plot: Anandan is a struggling actor and is looking for opportunities to get roles in movies. With the help of his uncle, he gets an audition for a lead role in a film. He reaches the studio and meets Tamizhselvan and asks him to write some dialogues for him for the audition. Anandan gets selected for the role. Meanwhile, he and Tamizhselvan gets married to Pushpa and Marathgam. Some days later, Anandam gets the news that his movie has been called off due to some reasons.

With Tamizhselvan's help, Anandam now enters politics. Simultaneously, he also focusses on his acting and gets a lead role in the film. Soon, Anandam and Tamizhselvan both wins the election, and Tamizhselvan becomes the C.M. From here, a rivalry starts between Anandam and Tamizhselvan. The movie goes on with dirty politics to bring each other down. To see who succeeds, you must watch the movie.

Analysis: The movie has many big names associated with it. We have expected so much from it, and it has stood firm on the expectations. Mani Ratnam has been entertaining us for years, and he has done the same with this movie too. It keeps you interested with many twists and it progresses further. The melodious music from A.R. Rahman adds to the pleasure.

Star Performances: Mohanlal and Prakash Raj has made the first have excellent with their friendship. The immense affection towards each other captured everyone's heart. Aishwarya Rai has a double role in the movie, and she will steal you heart away with her looks. Tabu is in a shade of negativity and embraces it. A.R. Rahman is fabulous with his music. Santosh Sivan has captures some amazing visuals and Suresh Urs has kept the movie tight with his editing.

What's there? The movie has every element to entertain you. Mani Ratnam fans will be delighted to see him again and his skeptical work. It will keep you in a fantasy world. It will never let you flick your eyebrows and leave your chairs. The movie is magical and you will feel intense attachment with it.

What's not there? The movie is quite lengthy, and this might not go in its favor. The climax is predictable, and if you were expecting something unique from Mani, you might get disappointed.
