Gopurangal Saivathillai is a Tamil drama film directed by Manivannan and was released in 1982. P. Kalaimani produced it under the banner of Everest Films. It was subsequently remade into Telugu as Mukku Pudaka.

Plot-

Arukkani is an illiterate village girl, and her father is upset that she is not married. He couldn't find any groom for his daughter and is worried about her future. One day, he meets his old friend Bhoothalingam. He shares his grief with him. Bhoothalingam, after hearing this, says that his son Murali can marry Arukkani. They both agree in this regard and start the preparations. Murali is excited to see his wife, and when he sees her on the day of marriage, he becomes upset due to her appearance. He marries her anyway but is frustrated and takes a transfer to Bangalore, leaving his wife and father in the village. He meets Julie in Bangalore and finds her attractive. They both fall in love with each other, and he marries Julie without letting her know about his first marriage. To see what happens next, you must watch the movie.

Analysis-

The movie has a beautiful love story which will please everyone. It creates a romantic environment, and the youth will love it. Mohan was outstanding in the film. The sense of frustration and anger is clearly visible in his eyes when he is forced to marry Arukkani. The visuals are great, and Manivannan has done an excellent job.

Star performances-

Mohan appears perfect and impresses the audience with his performance. Suhasini has carried her ugly attire pretty well and fits in her role. Radha has been shown as a house-breaker in the movie, but still, she looks perfect in her role. As a cinematographer, A. Sabapathy has rocked the screen. The editing is crisp, and Kesavan should be appreciated for that. Ilaiyaraaja however, disappoints with his music.

What's there-

The movie has a beautiful love story. It clearly gets the message across to the audience. The direction is strong and will keep you occupied and stuck to chairs.

What's not there-

The movie is a bit long, and it might not go in its favor. Also, the movie disappoints with the music.

Verdict-

The movie entertains you, but at the same time tests you with its length. You can watch it if you are looking for a sweet love story.
