Baskar Oru Rascal is scripted and directed by Director Siddique, who helmed the Malayalam version of the film with “ Mammootty” and “ Nayanthara.” Baskar Oru Rascal has Arvind Swamy, Amala Paul, Baby Nainika, Master Raghavan, “ Nassar,” Robo Shankar, “ Soori,” Nikesha Patel, Aftab Shivdasani, Riyaz Khan and Ramesh Khanna. The music composition is by Amresh Ganesh. Vijay Ulaganath cranked the camera and KR Gowrishankar edited the film. Harshini Movies produced the film.

Baskar is a businessman, who is known for his impetuous behavior. He has a son, Akash. Baskar stays with his father and son, Akash. Both of them are harassed by Baskar’s character. Akash’s schoolmate is Shivani. Shivani lost her father and her mother Anu has been caring the entire family. Anu is a cool woman, who could handle things patiently. Akash and Shivani decided to unite their parents and live as a family. Will this happen? Did Baskar and Anu accept the decision of their kids? Watch the film in theaters!

Star Performance

Arvind Swamy and Amala Paul fit in their roles perfectly. Arvind Swamy’s performance is neat and he had lived as the reckless businessman. Although the comedy portions of Ramesh Khanna, Soori and Robo Shankar are okayish in the beginning, it seems to be repetitive.

Siddique has come with a different script and has chosen the right set of actors. However, the first half is impressive than the second half and the same thing was dealt with the original version too. Although the stars performed well, the second half didn’t engage the audiences as the first half. The production values are good.  Technical values are quite okay.

What’s There?

  • Performances of the stars impress the audiences
  • Cinematography is okayish
  • BGM is good

What’s Not There?

  • Comedy didn’t impress much
  • The second half is not much engaging
  • The screenplay should have been crispier

Baskar Oru Rascal is a good film with its own ups and downs. Although some scenes are not much impressive, the film is overall a good family entertainer. Don’t go with much expectation and you will not be disappointed.
