had filed a petition in the Supreme Court that they hadn’t given permission to the Karnataka Government to build Mekedatu dam across river Cauvery. This petition is filed as the Tamilnadu Government filed a petition stating the contempt of the court. Earlier, the Karnataka government submitted the Pre-feasibility report (PFR) to the central government. After clearing it, the Centre asked Karnataka to submit a detailed project report.
If Karnataka builds Mekedatu dam, Tamilnadu will not get drinking water from Cauvery. As the Centre passed the order without consulting the lower riparian state, Tamilnadu, the EPS government filed a petition in Supreme Court.
