While the world spoke of the “highs and lows”, the King has experienced the highs which weren’t that high and lows which deserved a high. Some massive disappointments for his fans were the times when movies with class- Swades, My Name Is Khan, Jab Tak Hai Jaan and the latest Fan- don’t get the love, in terms of box-office collection, that they deserve. They will prove their hypocrisy when the “actor” comes up with films like Swades, Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Fan. The film FAN was Shah Rukh Khan’s best in his 25-year-long career. With two contrast characters, donned so perfectly, this was the best tribute he could have given. The film might have flaws, but every “perfect” thing has some acceptable flaws. The film is dark and intense. Shah Rukh Khan, who spent six hours daily for his make up as Gaurav Chandna, agreed the making of this was a huge risk. This film will remain close to the hearts of the fans of Shah Rukh Khan, or any other superstar- provided one respects hard work and understands cinema. His fans were disappointed about the absence of the popular “FAN anthem”- Jabra Fan, which is quite justifiable, since the song was the element which gave the feel of “connection”. Fan has received a lot of love from the people belonging to the film fraternity, and the Overseas. The movie does NOT have a mass appeal- the actor Shah Rukh Khan wanted to satisfy the people who criticised him after Dilwale and HNY. Hence, in all probability, the low box-office collection can be ignored.
