1) Saira Banu

Saira Banu was just 17 years old when she began her acting career. In 1961, she got her debut film, ' Junglee' where she played the lead role opposite Shammi Kapoor. But, after she married Dilip Kumar at the age of 22, she enjoyed playing the role of a home-maker, and hence she quit acting and devoted herself to look after her family.

 

2) Twinkle Khanna

Being born to the legendary actor, Rajesh Khanna, and actress, Dimple Kapadia, Twinkle entered the glamor industry with the film, 'Barsaat' where she acted opposite Bobby Deol. She even won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. But after she married Akshay Kumar in the year 2001, she quit working in movies as she lost interest in acting and started working under an architect which made her realize that playing the role of an interior designer in real life was all that she wanted to continue with.

 

3) Sonali Bendre

' Sonali' took hold over the film industry with an item song from the movie, “Bombay.” She worked with almost all the actors of her time but, she decided to leave the B-town after marrying Goldie Behl on 12 November 2002. Although she was seen making guest appearances in two movies, she never opted for a full-time career in the industry.

Neetu Singh started acting at a very early age of eight and did as many as 70 films in just seven years. She ruled the industry in her times and did 11 films with actor Rishi Kapoor, the most adorable Bollywood Jodi of all the times. She was just 14 when she started dating Rishi Kapoor, and after announcing her marriage at the age of 21, she decided to quit acting and take hold of the family life.

 

5) Meenakshi Seshadri

The renowned actress of her time, ' Meenakshi' started in the industry with a flop film, Painter Babu after which she decided to quit acting. But, Subhash Ghai encouraged her to work with him and then “ Hero” came out to be a blockbuster followed by many, many other movies. In 1996, she worked in the film, “Ghatak” with Sunny Deol, which was her last movie and then she got married to Harish Mysore who was an investment banker. She then settled in the United Stated and now owns a dancing school, “Cherish Institute of Dance” in Dallas.

 

6)  Yasmeen Joseph (popularly known as Mandakini)

Mandakini was born as Yasmeen Joseph to an Anglo-Indian family in Meerut. Yasmeen, initially got rejected by three film-makers and then she was named Madhuri and signed for the film, “Mazloom” by Ranjit Virk. At the age of 22, she got the chance to work with Raj Kapoor in “Ram Teri Ganga Maili” as Mandakini, which came out to be a great hit. After this, though she tried her hands in many movies, none came out to be that popular. She married in 1990 to a Buddhist monk and eventually quit acting. Her last movie was Zordaar in 1996 andis now busy running “Tibetan Yoga” classes in Mumbai.

 

7) Namrata Shirodkar

Namrata Shirodkar who is well-known for her supporting roles entered the film industry after winning the “ Miss India” title in the year 1993. She first worked in “Purab Ki Laila Paschim Ki Chhaila” but, the film did not release and then she started off with a small role in the film, “Jab PyarKisiseHotaHain” in 1998 starring Salman Khan and Twinkle Khanna and finally hit the box-office with the movie, “Vaastav”. In 2000, she met the man of her dreams, Mahesh Babu in the sets of Vamsi and went on to date him after the film was over. They tied the knot in 2005. She then left the silver screen and settled in Hyderabad.

 

8) Gayatri Joshi

This pretty lady too gave up acting after marrying Vikas Oberoi who is the Managing Director of Oberoi Constructions in 2005. The lead actress of ' Swades' had all the qualities of becoming a superstar but post her marriage she gave up acting and bade goodbye to Bollywood.

 

9) Asin Thottumkal

Married to the co-founder of Micromax, Rahul Sharma, 'Asin' is very well off in her married life, and she said that she does not want to take up any acting assignments and want to enjoy her married life. The Ghajini actress, Asin Thottumkal ventured the film industry at a very early age of 15 with a Malayalam movie. Her co-actor, Akshay Kumar introduced both of them and after dating each other for long, they finally tied the knot in January 2016.

 

10) Babita Kapoor

Following the trends of “The Kapoor Family,” Babita had to quit acting post her marriage, as working in the film industry, being their “bahu” was against the trend of the Kapoor Family. Randhir Kapoor fell in love with Babita while working in various romantic movies and went on to marry each other in November 1971. Their marriage was a grand one and are blessed with daughters- Karishma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor.
