There is no dearth of serials in our entertainment industry. While some came, entertained us with their story lines and went off air there are others that have been literally going on for too long that they have become monotonous. Some of these are:
This show had the perfect mixture of all the ingredients ranging from a strict dadisa, caring mother in law to child protagonists Anandi and Jagya who won the hearts of all with their light hearted banter and innocence. It was actually centered around the issue of child marriage and witnessed high ratings. However after some time, it all came crashing down. Jagya has already been married thrice, and the show is now revolving around Anandi’s daughter who was separated from her at birth. Well, there is only a certain dose of a repetitive story line that audiences can take.
The show was initially about how two sisters get married in the same house and their journey to become perfect daughter in laws. Until, recently it was a typical saas bahu drama but now it has moved towards a different genre of supernatural all together with Dayan, ghost, Satan and what not making appearances. I guess there is hardly any supernatural creature that is left to make an entry in the show. Oh, wait I forgot there are angels and grim reaper that are left.
It was quite a famous show initially however; I can’t say the same for present time. It was a story of two cousins- Gopi and Rashi and how the latter always tried to make Gopi’s life miserable. We also have famous Kokila Modi who can shut anyone up by just by her eyes in the show. We have seen almost everything from kidnapping, murder, separation to misunderstanding among the family members. There are five generations that are living together under the same roof, and I guess the sixth one is in line in near future.
Well if they weren’t able to understand Yeh Rishta Kya Keh Lata Hai even after five years then I don’t think anyone can help them. The storyline of the show has totally gotten diverted from what it was originally supposed to be. They have two children: Naira and Naksh right now in the show and Naksh is soon going to get married and his parents are still trying to figure out their own relationship.
This show started with the tagline that all the wives that help and support their spouses in every decision they take are ‘pativratas’, but what about the husband who wants to fulfill her wife’s wishes. A very fresh and new concept and was no doubt entertaining but Sandhya has already become IPS officer and there are no signs that the show is going to be wrapped up in the near future and not just that, just because she is an IPS officer she has to save everyone from bomb blasts, flight hijacks, and what not. Poor she, but one question that always comes to my mind while watching this show is that why she is doing the job of an entire police force or army for that matter.
Kumkum Bhagya is a very famous show on Zee T.V. in which a guy named Abhi marries a simple and sweet girl named Pragya, everything was perfectly ok till then but problem starts when you realize that Abhi married Pragya just for the sake of revenge and he already loves another girl Tanu. Not only that, he falls in love with Pragya with time and when the audiences think that the couple is finally going to live happily ever after, the director drops a bomb- Tanu is pregnant with Abhi’s child and it is further revealed that the child is not Abhi’s but someone else. I never knew that falling in love and having your happily ever after was this difficult.
The story revolves around two childhood friends Ranveer and Ishaani. Ranveer is madly in love with her but she isn’t and when she falls in love with her, Ranveer starts hating her and this continues on till the end of the show. Thank God, they ultimately came together at the end of the show.
Well, this shows need no introductions. Ask your moms about it and they would be able to give you an entire thesis on it. But I personally don’t think that it is a Ghar Gharki Kahaani in India. No one can make the world believe that hey are dead and then come back 20 years later for revenge. It is definitely not something that one can relate to and still it ran for a span of eight years on Star Plus.
When one talks about Indian T.V shows that went on for years, one just can’t ignore Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. By the time the show ended, there had been already two leaps of twenty years every time. I just can’t imagine how one single is expected to face so many unrealistic situations in daily soaps and still has to act within the domain of a ‘sanskaribahu’.
Their Rishta was so Pavitra that I don’t even have words to describe it. There are so many love triangles in this show that it becomes difficult to keep a count of. A loves B but B loves C and A will do anything to make B fall in love with herself. Can’t understand it, don’t worry I myself wasn’t able to.
