Parveen Rizvi, popularly known as Sangeeta, was born on 14th June 1947 in Karachi, British India. She is a successful Pakistani film actress, producer, and director of TV operas. The 74-year-old actress started her career as a child by starring in the film “Koh-e-Noor”, directed by Agha Husaini in 1969. Native in Karachi, she moved to Lahore to begin a more committed career in Lollywood. She gained love from the Pakistani audience for her supporting actress role in the movie “Yeh Aman” in 1971. She went on to act in a couple of more movies before she decided to pursue her career as a film producer-director in 1976 with her own film “Society Girl”.

With “Society Girl”, she made her debut, paving the path for a long and successful career in production and direction. She has more than 120 movies to her merit as an actor and director. With its dramatic script and luxuriant dance, “Society Girl” became a box-office hit, and in 1978, she became the director of the critically applauded art movie “Mutthi Bhar Chawal”. It is also the most rewarded movie with five awards in its credit. Her film of 1982, “Mian Biwi Razi”, was another blockbuster, which celebrated its Platinum Jubilee. She is the recipient of many awards recognizing her exceptional contribution to Pakistani’s film industry. She has been bestowed with Nigar Award for Best Director, Best Actress, Special Award for Society Girl, and in 2020 she was presented with Pakistan International Screen Awards Life Time Achievement Award.

She and her other colleagues had established the Film Federation of Pakistan to facilitate the release of low-budget movies. She was first married to a Pakistani actor Humayun Qureshi, had a daughter, and later divorced him. Her second marriage is to the famous business tycoon Naveed Akbar Butt.
