He is a well-known Indian actor and director who have left his mark in the film industry. He has worked in various Tamil language films and TV serials. His birth place is Chembur, Mumbai. He got his first break in the year 1995. He made his debut as an actor in the film ‘Mogamul’. He made his way in the Tamil Film Industry by a chance meeting with director GnanaRajasekar and producer Janakiram.

He took off from the theatre in Mumbai to Chennai for his first movie. Mogamul was a landmark in his career. It gave him shot to work with the best in the industry. He worked and cooperated well with Lenin, Krishnamurthy and Ilaiyaraaja. He worked as a lead along with Archana Joglekar and Nedumud Venu. The film won high critical acclaim. The film even pocketed the Indira Gandhi Award for Best First Film of a Director.

However, the excitement of the success of his first film was short lived as his career did not stir in the direction he thought it would. In 1999, Ekta Kapoor offered him a role in the TV serial, Kudumbam.  He played out a comedy role in that and also assisted her in the direction of the show. Forty more serials were done by him, and he came to limelight after his portrayal as Bhaskaran in the television serial, Kolangal. This success led him to be featured in many more shows and dramas. ‘Hollywood to Bollywood’ is the name of his home productions, on which he intended to work from 2009 onwards.

His first release film was entitled Kathai, which features many newcomers, but the film had a low success rate. The film earned mixed reviews and a critic from Sify.com stated he “should be patted on his back for touching up on such a heavy subject”. Another project entitled Kaiyazhuthu has started, which was starred by Shaan, but was then dropped down. In May 2012, he announced another project with Samuthirakani in the lead role, but it also failed to materialize. The year 2015 had two of his releases namely, “Aambala” and “Pencil.” These two movies have filmed him as an actor. He was also signed by an American Production house along with Shaan for the movie, Kaiyezhuthu. Abhishek is already a much loved character among the people.
