Vedhika Kumar is a Kannadiga from the Maharashtra Solapur. She is a South Indian film actress. People have seen her doing roles in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu films. Her debut film, Paradesi which released in 2013 was highly appreciated by the critics and won many nominations for her outstanding performance. She did B.Sc. in graduation and M.Sc. for her post graduation from Cardiff University, United Kingdom. After finishing up her studies, she joined the Kishore Namith Kapoor School to improvise her acting and dancing skills so as to get an entry in the Indian film industry. Initially, she was accepted as a model, and she did many advertisements. Along with Suriya, she got popular with her endorsing a biscuit brand on the television.
She was very promising with her acting talents. Keeping this in consideration, the producer Arjun offered her the lead role of Madrasi (2005), which she readily accepted. Unfortunately, her performance couldn’t get too noticed by the audience as the story was solely around the war image of Arjun. Even if Madrasi wasn’t able to offer her much success in her career, she still received offers of Hindi movies like Jai Santoshi Maa, that was a remake in the year 1975. The luck wasn’t still in her favor.
This Hindi remake was not that much appreciated and accepted. So she continued with her acting in South Indian films. Vedhika also tried her skills in a comedy horror movie Muni, but once again, this too went on to grab an average gross production in the commercial world. Also, her Telugu cinema attempt was considered to be less than expected by the critics. In 2008, Silambarasam did not receive positive feedbacks and was a big flop commercially; but got into notice because of her dance number ‘Kutti Pisase’, for which she was overly acknowledged by the critics team. After some time in the same year, she was signed in Kannada cinema opposite Ganesh, in Santana that fetched her positive reactions seeing her performance and acting talents.
Finally in 2009, she played the role of a Radio Jockey in a Malai film that proved to be a commercial success, changing stars for her acting career. Although she was offered a small role, she was thought to be apt. Bantam was the movie that helped her to win many laurels; the audience liked her being the naïve girl in the Telugu cinema. Her co-star was
Nara Rohit. After the release of this film, Vedhika did not sign any further and took a break from the industry. Although she did not try her hands in the acting career after Bantam, she continued in the advertising world, showcasing herself with Karthi in the ad film of mobile company Airtel.
