Gopika Nair

Gopika Nair or commonly called as Gopika is an Indian film actress who has worked in multiple film industries like Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. She was born on February 1, 1985, as ‘Girly Anto’ in a Syrian Christian family in Kerala, India. She completed her high schooling from St. Raphael’s Convent Girls High School, Ollur, Kerala and pursued her graduate degree in Sociology at Calicut University. She has also trained in classical dance from a popular master, Kamalher. She achieved the runner-up ‘Miss Thrissur’ which landed her a few modeling assignments. Her ambition in life was to become an air-hostess. She started her acting career in with the film Pranayamanithooval (2002) which was a Malayalam film starring Jayasurya and Vineeth. Later on, she was a part of several blockbuster movies like 4 the People (2004), and Autograph (2004) in the Tamil language. She has also worked in films like Kanasina Loka (2004), Keerthi Chakra (2006), Pachakuthira (2006), Chanthupottu (2005), and Veruthe Oru Bharya (2008) for which she bagged the award for Asianet Best Actress. In a decade long career, she has worked in many blockbuster movies as well as some which crashed at the box office. She has also appeared in several commercials like Marias Pickles and Spices, Impex, Vikas Nighties, SKC Ghee, and Jeyachandran Textiles. She has won several awards in her career like Asianet Best Supporting Actress award of 2004 for Vesham, Asianet Best Star Pair Award of 2006 for Keerthi Chakra, and Vanitha Film Award for Best Actress in 2008 for Veruthe Oru Bharya. Gopika married a doctor, Ajilesh Chacko on July 17,2008, and shortly returned to the cinema industry. Nair says that she has been supported well by her husband and the family. She has a son named Alden and a daughter Amy. She currently lives in Brisbane, Australia.
