Jamuna is a famous South Indian actress. Jamuna was born in 30th August 1936 in Karnataka. She was born to Nippani Srinivas Rao who was a famous business man and her  mother was Kausalya Devi. She was a virtuoso even in her childhood days.  Her mother teached her vocal music and harmonium. Dr Rajarao once happened to see her stage performance “Maa Bhoomi”. He was very much impressed and offer her heroine role in his movie Puttillu. It was in 1952.

She is a vociferous actress. She acted around 200 movies. Her notable performance was in the film “Mooga Manasulu”. The film was based on the concept of Reincarnation and cycle of life. It was a beautiful love story also. Jamuna took the role of Radha in the movie and created an impression in audience heart for ever.

She also received NTR national award in 2008. She also made some noteworthy performance in Tamil films especially through “Thangamalai Ragasiyam” and “Nichaya Thamboolam”.

Her husband is Juluri Ramana Rao. Her son is Vamsikrishna and daughter Sravanthi. Presently she is active in politics and works as MP to Lok Sabha.

Jamuna was an actress who starred in many popular Telugu films of the late 1950s and early 1960s. She entered as heroine in movies at the age of 14. She has acted nearly in 200 movies. She started her career on 1958 with the movie Bhookailas. She has stopped acting in movies and joined politics. She was born on August 30, 1935 at Hampi, Karnataka and people there used to call her as Hampi Sundari. 

She was elected from Rajahmundry Lok Sabha Constituency in 1989, in Congress ticket and then even joined BJP when Atal Behari Vajpayee was Prime Minister and started doing camps with BJP. She took a break in politics and started doing camp's with BJP and now she re-entering to the politics by TDP. 

In Hindi film ‘Milan’, she performed as a supporting actress with legendary Nutan and Sunil Dull. It was a Prasad production movie and the film was a remake of Telugu movie Mooga Manasulu (1964). She got her first Filmfare award for her performance in Milan. Milan was declared hit, but she did not try her luck thereafter in Hindi cinema. This senior most actress is against today’s heroines for shedding clothes and has blamed film makers for including double meaning vulgar dialogues.

She is still a big fan of NTR and even feel that NTR created history by coming to power within 9 months of starting a political party. This senior most actress has blamed current generation films for the growing atrocities on women. She believed that current movies are not informing society about social problems or promoting family values. 

Jamuna has served as Chairperson of A.P. Nataka Academy during Congress rule in the united Andhra Pradesh and now hopes that the whole Andhra can be better developed than Hyderabad even.
