L G Ravichander

LG Ravichander was born in Seerkazhi in Thanjavur district. Ravichander worked as an assistant director for 15 years before directing his first film. Bhoopathi Pandian is Ravichander’s mentor. Ravichander’s idea about cinema is that if a person gets an opportunity in cinema, he should use it to the extreme and bring good results. Waiting for the star actor will not bring success to a new director, says Ravichander. In 2006, Ravichander got the opportunity to direct a film named, Anbu Thozhi. The debut film of Ravichander has Thol Thirumavalavan, the leader of Viduthalai Siruthaigal Katchi, as the male lead. “Prabhu,” Preethi Varma and “Mayilsamy” were also in the cast. The film got its theatrical release on 2007. Anbu Thozhi is based on LTTE leader Prabhakaran. The film was censored four times and it is the first film to be censored these many times. After Anbu Thozhi, Ravichander didn’t get many opportunities. So, he joined as an associate to Bhoopathi Pandiyan and worked in films including Thiruvilayadal Arambam and Kadhal Solla Vandhen. Later Ravichander got an opportunity to direct “Masani” with “Ramki,” “Akhil,” “Iniya,” “Roja,” “Y Gee Mahendra” and Sarath Babu. Later, Ravichander directed, Aindhaam Thalaimurai Sidha Vaidhiya Sigamani with Bharath Srinivasan, Nandita Swetha, “Karunakaran,” “Manobala” and Thambi Ramaiah. Aindhaam Thalaimurai Sidha Vaidhiya Sigamani was a hit film for Ravichander and Bharath. The film has 23 comedy artists and in fact, it was a record. Ravichander’s next film is a horror movie like his Masani. But, the film has a specialty in its screenplay, unlike the regular horror movies. Ravichander says that if a tough story is shot with a simple screenplay, then the film will succeed for sure. According to Ravichander Story and Screenplay are the main things for the success of a film. Naan Avalai Sandhitha Pothu is the upcoming comedy entertainer by LG Ravichander, which has Santhosh Prathap and Chandini Tamilarasan in the leading roles. The real life story has Shanthi Williams, “Chaams,” GM Kumar and “Singamuthu” in the cast.
