Brindha Sarathy was born in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu. He started his film career by working as an associate director and dialogue writer for N. Linguswamy in his debut film Aanandham. However, he didn't work with Linguswamy again in the latter's subsequent films but became an independent director. He remade the 2001 Telugu film
