Yarmil, originally from Kundamangalam, did his schooling at a Malayalam medium school but pursued a degree in English literature at Devagiri College, Kozhikode. Later, he did post-graduation at Calicut University Campus. Yarmil took an active interest in film clubs and literature during his studies. On completing his studies, he studied at the Whistling Wood International Film Institute in Mumbai. He focused on studying directing and screenwriting during the course. During his tenure at the institute, Yarmil studied scriptwriting and direction under the guidance of Ashwani Mallik. 

Although he later took to writing, he got placed with Dharma Productions when he finished studying direction. He co-wrote the screenplay of a Yash Raj film in his initial days as a writer. Although the movie was canceled for some reason, he got the opportunity to work with Sunshine Pictures, owned by Vipul Shah, who later produced Commando 3. Yarmil feels more satisfied while working as a writer rather than a director. His goal remains to be an acclaimed screenwriter and later move to direct movies. The Commando 3 screenwriter began writing short stories when he was in high school itself. In one of the writing competitions, he secured the first grade at the district level, while he was awarded grade A at a state-level writing contest.

Yarmil is married to Shrinda, who works at Canara Bank, Mangalore. He also has two sisters, one of whom is a doctor while the other is a researcher. Darius has written the screenplay for the 2019 Bollywood movie Commando 3. The movie was a success and earned Filmfare Award nominations. The film revolves around a man who wishes to launch an attack from London. To ward off such an attempt, he is hunted down by a commando with the help of British Intelligence.
