Born on February 25 in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, Pinky Kannan has wanted to become a teacher since young. After completing her schooling from Holy Angels Convent I.S. C. School in Thiruvananthapuram, Pinky attended Kerala Law Academy and received her LL.B degree. Later, she pursued LL.M from the same academy and graduated in the year 2010. Pinky married Pattom Kannan, an Advocate, on September 14, 2011, and they have a son Dhananjay Chekava.

Along with acting, Pinky Kannan is also working as a legal officer for a company. Pinky, along with her husband Kannan, owns a legal firm. Pinky Kannan entered into the television world as a newsreader. She worked for Doordarshan National as a newsreader. She hosted the legal show Vakeel Chodhikunnu for Prabhatam News, where she would discuss the standard questions from the audience with an advocate every week. In the subsequent years, Pinky Kannan did various shows, including cookery shows, automobile programs, on Doordarshan. Pinky started her journey as an actress in the Amrita T.V. show Devangana. Post her successful debut, Pinky starred in the popular Asianet television drama Neelakkuyil. She essayed the role of Shahana in the show, which was one of the top-rated serials in Malayalam television.

All the while, Pinky was managing both her job as an advocate and also as an actor.
