Hindi Sports Kapil Dev

Kapil Dev is a former captain of the Indian cricket team. In 1983 under Kapil’s captaincy the Indian team won the Cricket world cup. He has also served as India’s cricket coach between 1999 and 2000. In 2002, Kapil was named by Wisden, the Bible of Cricket as the cricketer of the century.

He garnered much popularity as an excellent out-swinger and right arm pace bowler. His passion for the game made him an aggressive player, and it frequently helped India in desperate situations. After holding the world record for taking a large number of wickets in Test Cricket, he retired in the year 1994.

In both forms of cricket, ODIs and Test he won the title of highest wicket taker. Kapil Dev was born to Raj Kumari and Ram Lal Nikhanj on 6th January 1959. His parents had migrated to India from Rawalpindi during the partition of India. He also holds the title of taking more than 400 wickets and scoring 5000 runs in Tests Cricket.

Kapil’s contribution to the game got him inducted into ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in the year 2010. A former Indian player, Manoj Prabhakar accused Kapil of bribing him for 1994 tournament in Sri Lanka. In September 2000, under much pressure from the fans and politicians, Kapil Dev resigned as the coach of Indian team.

Later in November 2000, the reports of CBI acquitted him on all match-fixing charges. Kapil Dev was very much interested in Golf, which was the reason he took up golf in 1994. At present this organization has team strength of 42 members. Kapil Dev has to his credit three autobiographical works - By God's Decree (1985), Cricket my style in 1987 and Straight from my heart (2004). In 2014, at an event by Delhi Urological Society, Kapil pledged his organs.
