Rony Rafel

Rony Raphel is an Indian film Music director and a composer who hails from Trivandrum, Kerala, and is a graduate of Mar Ivanios College. He has worked in the Tamil and Malayalam film industry as a Music Director. He is from a family with a musical background; his father, Raphel, is a musician who has composed many songs in Malayalam and is the director who introduced the famous singer Chithra in the film Neelambari’. Rony’s first movie as a music director is Kalyana Kurimanam. Though the film didn’t get expected success, he got the opportunity to work with famous singers like Kattassery Joseph Yesudas (K.J. Yesudas), Sujatha, Chithra, Malabar Gopalan Nair Sreekumar (M.G. Sreekumar), and many others. This movie has eight songs that were composed by him. 

One of his unforgettable experiences in the industry is with famous Malayalam director Priyadarshan whom he met through M.G. Sreekumar. They met in Chennai when Rony was composing for movies. Priyadarshan liked his composing and gave him the chance to work on his films, ‘Arabiyum Ottakavum P Madhavan Nairum .’ and ‘Aamayum Muyalum.’ After that, he worked with other directors. One night, he got a call from Priyadarshan, asking him to compose songs for his movie ‘ Oppam Click to look into! >> Read More... .’ Priyadarshan was impressed with his music composition and offered him to be the music director in his subsequent films. He composed the background score for ‘ Nimir Click to look into! >> Read More... ’ and ‘ Anamika Click to look into! >> Read More... .’ He also did few ad films. Finally, he got the opportunity to work as Music director in Priyadarshan’s movies ‘Malakkar’ and ‘Arabikadalinte Simham.’ He received appreciation from many directors and actors for the songs in that movie.

He has done background scores for many movies and has composed songs for more than ten movies. He is thankful to all the producers, directors, actors, family, and friends for supporting him throughout his journey, as without them, he wouldn’t have reached where he is now.
