Diti discovered her love for entertainment at a young age and was awarded by the Bangladesh Shishu Academy for her singing talent. Her TV debut was “Laili Majnu” opposite Manas Bandopadhyay. She was only 19 when filmmaker Udayon Chowdhury casted her in the film Daak Diye Jai after winning the competition "Notun Mukher Sondhane" in 1984.

However, her first released film was Ami-i Ostad directed by Ajmal Huda. Her scintillating screen presence, beguiling eyes, and acting soon made her one of the most coveted artists in “Dhallywood” After this; she continued to earn success and fame. Diti left the country in 2012, and went to Canada. However, she returned to Bangladesh along with daughter, Lamia in 2013 after which she decided to focus on TV plays. The actress made her directorial debut with the teledrama titled ‘Khunsutike Dilam Chhuti.” She also directed a one-hour play titled “Sobar Uporey Mama” starring Nowshin and Apurbo. Diti was diagnosed with cancer in 2015 and was admitted to Madras Institute of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, India, but her condition showed no improvement whatsoever. On 20 March 2016, Diti lost her battle with cancer at the United Hospital in Dhaka with her children, and a host of well-wishers at her side but she has left an indelible mark with a remarkable career of 31 years in the industry.
